Phenomenal!
From start to finish, the whole movie is wonderful. To condense the plot down, Thomas is sent away to work on the construction of a new Branch Line after causing chaos at Knapford. He comes across Sailor John and Skiff, who are hunting for treasure. When Marion the Steam Shovel finds the treasure, Sailor John gets angry with Thomas and tries to get it from The Fat Controller's office where it is stored. The special introduces some new characters into the series. Skiff the rail boat, Sailor John and Ryan. They're all fantastic; Skiff is a boat owned by Sailor John. He was adapted by John to have wheels so he can go on the track. Sailor John is the villain of the movie, who has an obsession with finding the treasure, that he will do anything to get what he wants. Ryan is a steam engine, his role in this is similar to Stanley's role in The Great Discovery, which makes them very similar characters. Thomas takes an instant disliking to him at the start for taking his work from him. Many, many characters are also reintroduced. Donald and Douglas, who were introduced in Series 2 and haven't appeared since Series 12, make a return in a joke with Duck, who points out how long they have been away. Daisy, who also returns, was also introduced in Series 2, hasn't appeared since Series 4, excluding a minor cameo in Calling all Engines. She is given a new line to work on with Ryan at the end of the movie. Several Pack members from the excellent 'Thomas Trusty Friends' DVD return. Alfie, Oliver, Max and Monty join Jack in this special, helping with the construction of the new branch line. Oliver is also involved in a subplot with Marion and another Oliver in which Marion convinces herself that Oliver the Great Western Engine changed into Oliver the Excavator with magic provided by three more returning engines: Mike, Rex and Bert. These are the Arlesdale Engines, who haven't appeared in the TV Series yet, but they were introduced in the Railway Series book 'Small Railway Engines', where they were nicknamed the magic engines by Donald and Douglas. The animation is spectacular, a lot more detailed than what is found in every other children's TV Show. The voice cast has some big names, such as John Hurt and Sailor John, Eddie Redmayne as Ryan and Olivia Colman as Marion, who provide some excellent voices alongside Mark Moraghan, John Hasler and Keith Wickham. The music composed by Robert Hartshorne is excellent, as well as the songs, which were actually written by head writer Andrew Brenner. I found my self having both songs,"We Make a Team Together" and "Never Overlook a Little Engine", stuck in my head for weeks.Overall, I'd give it 10/10, because it really is fantastic. This is actually one of the few DVDs that I recommend. The TV Series went through a dark time from 2005 to 2012, but it is back to making classics again. I also find that HiT tend to release a lot of DVDs with just 6 episodes on, but then release a full volume a few years later. I'd recommend:The Complete Series 1The Complete Series 2The Complete Series 3The Complete Series 4The Complete Series 5The Complete Series 6The Complete Series 7Thomas' Trusty FriendsBlue Mountain MysteryKing of the RailwayTale of the BraveThe Adventure BeginsSodor's Legend of the Lost TreasureThe Complete Series 17 (released next year)The Complete Series 18 (most likely released in 2017)

My 2 year old son is a huge Thomas fan and he missed out on seeing this at the cinema due to having hand, foot and mouth so I got it him for Christmas. He absolutely loved the film and is currently watching it for the third time. It's very similar to a Thomas film we've seen before but it's still very good, he loves it.

2nd copy for the nephew
Purchased as a replacement disc. My nephew loves Thomas and asks for this DVD so much that he killed the disc - never the best idea to let a 3 or 4 year old handle DVDs but found another copy on here so now he can watch his favourite episodes over and over again.
