We had a DIY project on to-do list. Changing the switches covers. However, this first foray proved expensive. Alternatively, this self adhesive mirror like is ideal. Cut to size, easy to apply and our switches look brand new and silver as hoped for.

It works a treat, but it's extremely thin and very tricky to apply. You will need some kind of applicator to make sure you get this flat on to the wall. This will, however, show up any imperfections in your wall due to being so thin a product.
