Q: Can anyone tell me if this item has screws on either end? Thanks!

Hi, yes it does, and it comes with 2 screws which fitted our exisiting base and because it has a screw hole at both ends of the pole you could attach something to the top as well. I am very pleased with this item. We used it to re-vamp an old activity centre.

Q: What is thread size of screws

I do not know. We did not use the new screws supplied. We re-used the old screws and that was fine. I have measured the new screw and I would estimate they are 8mm.

Q: What does the top of the post look like? I don't want something bar/with a hole in it.

It has a hole in it for a screw (supplied with it) to fit in. If you don't want a hole showing just put a screw in it

Q: have a Trixie post but the size is 42. Is it possible that the 40 would be that once screws are attached. weird they wld make the post 2cm smaller?

40 and 42 are two different sizes. Length is not important if your post is free standing, as some are. However, mine is in a 'waterfall' type fitting and the length is important and has to be correct.
