Old but fab
Rebought after losing my last copy, been doing callanetics for years on and off, yes it's old but still brilliant to do and better to have the original than the newer ones. Easy to follow hard to keep up, but you'll go from unable to very able in weeks. Never regret starting and it gives you tone in no time, feeling lighter and stronger. More supple and less fatigue

I bought the video with the book callanetics am/pm. so that I can use the video to learn the exercises and do the am/pm program (that video was too expensive ) . It is an amazing work out.!! I personally find her voice very soothing which I really appreciate as opposed to videos where you feel you have to sprint to perform and the pace leaves you stressed. no guys thanks but no. I have too much stress in my life already. I am fit, not terribly fit but not unfit either. and my job involves a lot of movement. by the end of 30 min I felt that my body used muscles it had never used before! I would suggest for people to take it easy at first increasing the reps slowly if needed. If there is a tension on your neck when doing stomach exercises you might have to be careful with your posture and in no time when abs will be strong any tension on the neck will disappear. I am incredibly happy with this exercise. cant praise it enough. also my feedback on the modern callanetis videos are that do not look so detailed in terms of posture as the original, and the pace is not calming for me. I prefer the original which has a calming quality. you definitely need that as the exercises are at the same time gentle and intense. Its the second day today and I feel aches in muscles that I haven't felt before. also I feel more at ease when walking and feel taller because of the stretching. a friend of mine has done it in the past and swears by it. I feel gratitude to Callan!! I would recommend it to a 16 year old who would like to be fit, and ground herself to a feeling of calmness, and to my 75 year old mother who has no clue about fitness. ah and also in terms of equipment you need a mat for you back and a chair. thats it. and if you find funny the ladies in leotard lycra, Well life is hard, you know? so I don't want to beat myself in the gym, thanks but not for me, I want to drink my morning coffee and exercise watching an 80 year old rocking her bikini body in a pink lycra. That is my taste in life. and wait till the future sociologists discover you tube videos about instructing you about how to offer yourself the glory of moustache-eye-brow

Perfect antidote to sedentary desk jobs!!
Excellent DVD- a fantastic introduction to Callanetics presented by the engaging and now sadly departed Callan Pinckney. This takes you through the one hour callanetics programme and includes warm ups. The pace is never too fast (you are always encouraged to work at your own pace) and there is a helpful on-screen counter to keep you right. The exercises are a mix and cover stomach, legs, thighs, arms to give you a fast way to tone up. These are matched with stretches that relax and prevent muscles from bulking up. I recommend buying the book that goes with this DVD and attending a class if possible to really master the precise technique needed for so many of the exercises. Two hours a week is suggested (I try to do 3) but in fact the actual exercising time on the DVD is closer to 45 minutes, so when you get into it you may want to pause the DVD and repeat some exercises or throw in some you have learned at your class. After 1 session you will feel lighter, springier and more lithe (although probably sore too!) and after 2 or 3 you will begin to see a difference in stomach and thighs. Keep at it: it is the PERFECT antidote for a sedentary desk job!

Excellent 1hr exercise program. Holds up in it's 80's glory.
Callanetics is an excellent exercise program, I always end up returning to it over the years. It's a shame Callan Pinkney didn't make more videos like this one as it's the best for repeated use compared to her other videos and it's a relic from the 80's which I love!!!If made today Callan would have a youtube channel with new workouts every week and an extensive collection of dvds for every style of Callanetics.As it stands get Callanetics and maybe Super Callanetics and enjoy what's there. Super Callanetics is a tougher workout but not an as interesting video for repeated use. The original feels like you're in a class with other students and is just perfect.

A fantastic way to exercise
I bought the book many years ago when I was in my twenties, used it all the time, and now, when I look back at photos of myself, I realise what a super figure I had. I am now in my fifties, fat and stiff with arthritis. I dont want to go to classes where people will see how ugly my body has become, so I decided before I get diabetes and other awful health problems, that I had better do something about it.This DVD is just what I needed. The hour long session went by very quickly. It was so easy to follow and there is no impact on any parts of the body, its just very gentle movements which anyone of any age would find easy to do. Im looking forward to getting my figure back and being able to move more freely within a month, if I manage to do the exercises every day! I highly recommend this.
