can they be used to cook?

NO, not to cook. They ARE food and dishwasher safe, but they specifically come with the safety warning NOT stovetop, oven or microwave safe. Good for mud kitchen, or serving food out of, but not cooking with.

Can you leave them outside without rusting? For a mud kitchen?

They are brilliant pans but with anything made from steel I would think that they would probably get rust around the joints where they are welded

Silly question. but is it better to get the tea set or pots and pan set for use in a mud kitchen? what would get played with most?

I bought the pots and pans for my grandsons mud kitchen 18 months ago. As it’s a mud kitchen he enjoys mixing ‘meals’ in the pots. Even after 18 months use the pots are still fit for purpose.
