Best Headset I've Ever Owned
I've now owned this headset for over 6 months and have yet to have a single issue with them. They are simply fantastic. I've always found Turtle Beach to be high quality and these are no different. When I first got them they hurt my head/ears slightly after an hour or two of wearing them but over time this stopped being an issue as I wore them in. They are super comfortable to wear and also adjustable. As for the sound quality, it's just amazing. There are a variety of different settings you can choose from (Game mode, Music mode, movie mode, etc.) as well as settings within those (for example, when in game mode you can choose to have it on "Shooters" or "Racing"), so you can really find the best sound for you. Personally, I tend to use "Signature Sound". They also come with a sleek black stand which they sit in when not in use, and this also charges them. The battery life is excellent so you don't need to worry about them running out of power after an hour of using them (even if they do, you can simply plug them in via USB). Quite simply they're one of the best purchases I've ever made. Still very happy with them. Sure they're one of the pricier headsets on the market, but you absolutely get what you pay for. I use these most days and I've never felt like I wasted money on them. Highly recommended, especially for gamers.

Headsets can be a beach
I purchased a pair of these a year ago today, and the plastic that the cups slide on, cracked a month after purchase. I had to buy this new pair, after the old ones completely broke (gaffer tape can only fix so much) Now for the Review. These headsets are the best on the market, and come packed with features, that you'd expect from headsets that are in the £200 bracket. The sound quality is second to none, with different modes for gaming, films, music, and stereo. Blu tooth connectivity means that you can take phone calls, whilst still gaming ect. The headsets are extremely comfortable. I can wear them for 10 hours without feeling like they are causing discomfort. The battery only has 10 hours of juice, but that's more than enough for whatever you need. And they charge pretty quickly. There was an issue with the mic. Some people likened the mic to talking in a tin can. But a recent patch fixed the issue. All in all, a great headset, but I'll be keeping an eye on whether they last longer than a month, before the plastic breaks. In my opinion, my rating would be 8/10 Update. THE BUILD QUALITY ON THESE IS EXTREMELY BAD, PLASTIC HOLD THE SLIDER FOR THE CUPS, HAS BROKE IN THE SAME PLACE ON 3 DIFFERENT PAIRS. NOW AWAITING A REFUND, AND WILL BE BUYING A DIFFERENT BRAND. MY ADVICE, IS DO NOT BUY, UNLESS YOU HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THEM BREAKING ANYWHERE BETWEEN ONE TO SIX MONTHS OF PURCHASE.

RISKY
THE GOOD Sound quality is awesome. No doubt about it. This is what you expect from a premium headset. I’ve been using this headset for 12 hrs now since it arrived from Prime Day. Was on sale from £170+ down to £135, which for me, was a bargain given the original price years ago. Presets for gaming is not bad. Prticulary like the superhuman sound and footsteps enhanced...gave me some advantages to my matches. Also, the charging dock is very nice. Unless you game for 12 hrs straight then of course you loose battery in the middle. The grEen LED light in the dock is always on which is beautiful. Indicates that the headphone is charged, otherwise its red if charging. The Movie and Music presets are not that bad as well. Physically, you get a premium quality feels out of the headset. The green highlights are impressive for xbox enthusiasts. THE BAD The plates are loose. They are fully functional but when I turn my head or move my body, the screech is unbearable. Noise cancelling could not remove it. It just vibrates to your inner ear. It’s very, very disturbing. Called customer support for this. Amazon is happy to give me 10% additional discount and made me happy not to return this. Otherwise I would have used the full refund to purchase Stealth 700 instead. The “invisible” microphone is a little terrible although they made a nice move putting it on both sides. But headsets with mic for me are little bit more appealing to look at for gamers. It does pick up sounds quite nicely. It does not have IOS support which sucks. Th app only supports Stealth 700. Android, yes. Rare sound drops. Definitely noticeable if your playing action RPG’s which has endless sound effects. There’s a small, scratching, sort of a windy noise when choosing any options on any menu. You could recognise it immediately on your xbox homepage when scrolling around the interface. OVERALL I would have given this 2 stars if it weren’t for the prtial discount and Amazon Prime Day sale. It’s not worth the £170+. Just keep an eye if the price drops low again.

Unbiased Review of the 800x
Just bought these despite the negative reviews and I guess I'm glad I did. The headset shipped with the latest firmware, I checked for updates as soon as I got them. Build quality... Build quality is really good. The headset is solid and doesn't make any noises when you pick them up from the base or with general use. By noises I mean the usual creeks you sometimes get from other headsets. The headset has a little weight to it too. I should all mention that the charging stand is also well made. Comfortableness... Like I said previously the 800x has some weight to it, this makes them a little uncomfortable in my opinion. I mean I find my old XO One' more comfortable. The ear cups are large and block external noise very well. They have a soft memory foam feel to them and go completely over the ears. The headset does clamp your head though. By this I mean it squeezes your head a little tight, which means I often have to take them for a little break after an hour or two. Still I think the 800x are somewhat comfortable but not as comfortable as some as the other headsets I have used. Sound quality... Sound quality is great on these headphones. I've used all the presets for the games I have and downloaded some using the Android app you can download to change presets on the fly (it's only available for Android, not iOS or Blackberry or Windows Phone). To do the same thing without an Android device you need to connect both the transmitter (charging dock) and headphones to your PC/Mac, from there you can change presents and update the firmware but you can't change individual volumes for different thing like Mic Monitoring, this is unique to the Android app. I have used these headsets to watch movies, listen to music and to play games and it worked great for all of them. Mic... The mic is somewhat weird. Sometimes it works flawlessly, sometimes it doesn't. For £200 I would have expected the microphone to be better, but you don't sound really bad, people can still hear everything you say but it's just not that clear. I've got mine set to Quite Room and it seems to be ok. I haven't had any complaints as of yet. But I tested them out by sending a voice message to a friend. I noticed that the headset would sound horrible for the first couple of seconds ad then start to sound really clear. I'm assuming that's what happens in games to. I also tried shouting and the mic normalised it, so it didn't sound like I was shouting... That was quite cool. I guess I should review the mic monitoring too, which isn't that great. The mic monitoring is present but it's really quite. Even after changing the volume from the Android app. I have noticed that the mic monitoring sounds better on Outdoor mode but then you get a crappy microphone experience. You can have best of both. Overall the microphone is decent and the firmware upgrades do seem to be helping (I've heard some mic tests from previous updates and they were bad!). I think the main issue is that the mic is too sensitive. It sounds as though the mic is really close to your mouth for the first few seconds then it kind of puts distance between it to make it normal. All Turtle Beach need to do is add a mic sensitivity option to the Android app and I think that will solve the issue. Charging... Charging the headset is a breeze! It's so easy. All you have to do it plonk them down on to the charging stand and wait until the turtle beach logo on the stand goes green to represent that the charging had been completed. Bluetooth... Bluetooth is excellent. It's great answering calls with a button click whilst gaming without any interaction with the phone. It's Also great just using the headphone to listen to music with my phone via Bluetooth around the house. It's so cool. I've connected the headset to my phone, tablet and 2-in-1 device. To be honest the Bluetooth is one of the best features for me. It means I can use them with almost any device, all without wires. Noise cancellation... The noise cancellation is quite good on these headsets. Even without the noise cancellation on the headset drowns a lot of background noise. With the noise cancellation on, everything is almost silent. This is with nothing playing on the headphones. With something playing on the headphones you can't hear no background noise at all. You can't use mic monitoring whilst the noise cancellation is on, you also can't change the mic monitoring volume via the Android app when it's active. Overall... Overall, I would recommend this headset to others. I mean the mic is really the only issue and even that's not terrible. The last thing I should mention is that the headset talks to you and tells you what's activated and if the battery is getting low. Really helpful. Also the battery life is great I get a strong 14+ hours from the headset. Forgive me for any typos... I'm using my phone.

For the premium price you are getting a sub par product
In my search for a high end headset I looked high and low on the internet but I couldn't find any consumer comparisons of the two flagship headsets, the Astro A50's and the Turtle Beach 800x Elites, I could only find sponsored videos on YouTube. Any consumer videos were of one product or the other, never both. Since the release of the Xbox One I have had a couple of headsets but they were all from Turtle Beach and to be honest I cheeped out and originally bought the 800x's. My product purchase history is as follows - 1st) Turtle beach XO4's (still have them as a back up set, they're really good for a basic headset) 2nd) Turtle beach 420x+ (gave them to my friend as i upgraded to the 800x's) 3rd) Turtle beach 800x (I returned these after three days use, for the reasons below) When I received the 800x's I instantly regretted it so I returned them after only three days use and opted for the Astro A50 2016 model. Here my findings when comparing them both. Please be aware I sit at a gaming desk so my console / base station / headset and monitor are under 1 meter away from each other Product Registration - Astro = TB Very simple, just follow the links on their websites. Software - Astro = TB The process of updating the firmware (Which is the first thing I did with the 800x's) is very easy with both pieces of software, both have easy interfaces both are easy to navigate and easy to customise the settings within the headset (which didn't help the horrible sound and white . Base Station - Astro > TB Astro pip TB on this one for one reason, the 3.5mm audio in is located on the back of the Astro base station where as the on the 800x's they are on the headset, they are meant to be fully wireless after all. Both have a very positive lock in feel to them, two optic in and mini USB connection. Headset - Astro > TB Again Astro win this for a few reasons. Both headsets have a very solid build quality but that is where the similarities end. The user interface on the 800's is horrid, there are far too many buttons to press and far too many combinations of buttons to press on both cups. With the Astro's there are two switches, power ON/OFF and audio presets, one button, to turn ON/OFF Dolby Digital, a volume dial and finally an EQ rocker for game and chat volume, all these are on the right cup. The comfort of the Astro's are on another level. When I wore the 800's I found that after a while my ears would hurt due to the pressure they exerted, that pressure coupled with the leather noise cancellation cups would also cause my ears to pop all the time, like I was on an aeroplane. The A50's are lighter than the 800's which is also very nice for extended periods of gaming or listening to music. The Astro's also have a very neat feature, when you put the headset down it auto powers down. This is handy for so many reasons. Connection distance of base station to headset - Astro > TB The usable range of the A50's is quite a lot further than the 800's, easily double in my home environment! Chat - Astro > TB Astro wins this hands down. The boom arm on the A50's is fantastic, pull the arm down to activate the mic, push it up to mute, no one has to hear you eat again ;) The sound quality is just on another level, with the 800's not having a boom arm mic you sound like you're speaking into a tin can. Game/Music/video sound - Astro > TB The moment I turned on the 800's there was a very very noticeable white noise / hiss, a firmware update and numerous tweaks with the TB software suite could not sort this out. It was noticeable at low and higher volumes. There was also a very noticeable output lag on the 800x's, when I shot my gun on various games a second later boom I heard it. This was not an isolated thing, it happened on other gaming formats and videos on YouTube and films in my library. The A50's off the bat were 100% better with no white noise at all. I will say this, both have very good sound quality for gaming, music and video (if you can look past the hiss of the 800's) but the A50's just seem to have a nicer sound and there is no output lag. Connectivity - Astro < TB The 800's win this for one reason only.... Bluetooth. OMG why Astro couldn't have BT is beyond me, it was so easy to connect my phone and tablet via the BT which did make for an easy experience to listen to Spotify or use my phone while gaming. The one thing I will say is that I found it impossible to connect them to my PC, I personally don't want to use Spotify on my phone or tablet to listen to music. With the Astro base station having a 3.5mm it made it very easy to listen to what ever was playing on my PC while gaming, music, movie or YouTube etc. Price - Astro < TB For obvious reasons the Astros lose here, they're £240 and the 800x's are £190, BUT here is the caveat, buy the A50's the difference in quality is extremely measurable! The reason for the very low two star is clear, you're paying a relatively high price for Turtle Beaches top end headset, they are sub par at best. If I were you I would take a long hard look at the A50's.

Great Headset... Worth Every Penny
Right... I felt compelled to write a review of this product as I have both been elated and disappointed with the majority of the reviews I have seen on the Amazon website. I have been waiting for these since I first saw the Elite 800's for the PS4... To say I was envious of the PS4 having these was an understatement, but am glad I now have a pair specifically designed for the Xbox One. I agree with all the positive feedback on here completely so won't add many more comments about those already written but disagree with most of the negatives and one in particular and I'll explain why. I do not think many people have read the instructions when it comes to Mic Monitoring as most off the negative feedback is down to people saying that the chat sound is not very good quality.... A test was needed I thought. I logged into a friend's party on Xbox Live and after I had READ the Presents Reference sheet I thought this would be a good way to see if what people were saying had any truth in it and I have to say that it does not You need to play around with the presets for the Mic to see which one suits your own environment, at first they did say I sounded muffled/not very clear but once I had trialed the presets they said that I sounded clear and as they expected... so no issue with Mic quality after all. My only gripe is that there is no app for my Windows Phone to adjust other preset settings, hopefully Turtle Beach will address this however it is really not a drama to plug this into a PC as it takes minutes to update. In summary if you want a top quality Headset then this is it... just read all the instructions first.

very nice sound, easy set up, music from phone via bluetooth while playing games and chatting. Will battery life ruin it all?
Edit 27/05: my friend also bought these and we got round to playing some games tonight along with some other friends. The mic quality from my friend was AWFUL could barely hear him and when i could he sounded terrible like he was in a cardboard box in another room and left the headset outside. Everyone told me i sounded the same. Ruins them completely in my opinion. Just got my headset! Sounds great, the 7.1 does work. I just played bf:hardline and i can hear people running about and shooting above and below hearing helicopters and jeeps full 360 is really immersive. Can listen to music from phone via bluetooth while playing games and still have the game sounds nice and clear. Able to adjust music volume from the volume buttons on my iphone. Super easy set up. The ear cups are very comfortable and the adjustment notches on the 'headset arms/head rest/bit that holds the ear cups' at each stage are very minor allowing a precise fit which is nice as i can normally never get headphones 'just right'. The only downside to these i can see possibly is "up to 10 hours battery life" as the battery is built in and if it ran out you would have take the headset off and put the headset back in the dock. Im assuming if my phone is connected by bluetooth and im chatting and playing games that "up to 10 hour battery life" is going to dramatically decrease but i have only just got them so i guess we'll see about that. Would have been 5/5 if you could swap batteries in and out

Fully wireless and no boom mic are the only reasons why I went for this.
Good points. 1. Completely wireless (no wire connecting to your controller) meaning you are no longer tethered to your controller, one of the redeaming features. 2. Can connect to another device via Bluetooth while still receiving sound from Xbox (handy for listening to music or receiving a phone call) 3. Active noise cancelling 4. All controls are easy to get to. 5. Has a 3.5mm jack port so you can use them if you have no battery. 6. The charging stand is magnetic making them easier to seat. 7. Has a micro usb so you can charge them away from the dock. 8. They have a mobile and windows app so you can control and change settings. 9. No microphone boom getting in the way, another redeaming feature, I've never had problems with people not hearing me. Bad points. 1. Headset disconnects itself from the base so you have to reset it to get it to reconnect. 2. There is no elite program. You used to be able to enrol yourself in the elite program so you could receive accessories and a t-shirt for free, you can no longer do this. 3. No accessories support. You can no longer buy new plates for the sides for customisation. 4. Most of the time it won't charge on the dock meaning when I pick it up to use it I have to have it plugged in with the micro USB. 5. Every now and again the sound will have large stutters as if I'm going out of range even though I haven't moved. 6. The buttons in the side are sensitive and provide no resistance to accidental presses. 7. There are too many buttons on the sides. You have individual volume up and down for game and chat audio which could have just been volume wheels on either side eliminating 4 buttons. It would have been even better if the volume wheels had tactile bumps to help reduce accidentally changing them. This would change the volume control from software to hardware eliminating the next problem. 8. Every time I pick them up from the dock the chat audio is on full volume, this cannot be changed for about 30 seconds and then the volume goes to minimum so you have to turn the chat back up. Even with all the bad points, I wouldn't get any other headset if it meant I'd have to have it wired or with a boom mic.
