Sram PC 870 6/7/8-fach Chain // 114 Glieder

I bought several of these chains for Cycle Fiesta, a cycling holiday company. We need chains that last a long time with little stretching, and this Sram is excellent for this. We use the chains mostly on the road, but also on some off-road sections which are quite sandy and dusty, but the chains are well up to the task. We have one tour to the Pyrenees, where some pretty heavy guys were really mashing the gears going up Tourmalet, but the chains were 100% fine afterwards. The chain is very easy to put on using the powerlink method (just make sure that you loop it through correctly, because it can be a bit tricky to undo). We have not had any problems with stiff links so far. The only problem we found on a couple of bikes was a slight grinding sound for the first 50km after the chain was put on; but that was probably due to some slight warping of the chainrings rather than the chain itself. Highly recommended, especially for the price they are going for on Amazon - I will be stocking up on several more.

Good quality Chain

Immediately noticed it much heavier and sturdier than the chain I had which didn't even last a year before becoming really stretched. Gear changes no problem now and I like also the shiny silver nickel (it's better looking than the photo above) finish as my old bike has a lot of chrome so it looks very good with that. Was already the perfect length for my bike gears and clipped on very simply. Also nicely pregreased so I just rode off straight away. I know what my next chain is going to be, provided of course that this one doesn't stretch badly but I suspect it won't. It even seems better than the chain on my new Boardman Hybrid. An easy excellent.

I only wish the product was advertised as having the quick link since I went and bought one separately. I see the other reviews mention this but the company shouldn't be relying on reviewers to tell new buyers what the product includes! Safe to say I didn't read the reviews before buying since I feel it was a pretty low risk purchase. It was my first chain purchase so lesson learnt! Otherwise it is a great chain and feels solid. There is a the cheaper PC850 model but given £6 between them and if this PC870 is even slightly hardier then its worth paying extra.

Wouldn't use any other chain for 7/8 unless I can get pc890! Coated outer plates means cleans easier, and smooth action and shifting on any Shimano compatible cassette. Good price too. Obviously, will not last longer than a pc830 in terms of wear, but looks nicer longer.

I needed to replace a similar chain on my hybrid bike and thought I would try to do it myself for the first time. This chain comes complete with a 'power link' which makes it all very easy, as no special tools are needed. In fact you can undo and do it up by hand. Just try and attach both sides of the 'power link' at once otherwise you might have to undo the side you've attached already. I was lucky in that my old chain and this one had the same number of links so nothing needed to be removed. I could even see the chain stretch (just over 0.5 cm) of my old chain. So saved myself a few bob and it only took a few minutes. Great.

I decided to go for this chain after read the impressive 9/9 five stars reviews. The chain seems to be of very good quality. However, when I was mounting the chain I got stacked trying to "close" the silver PowerLink (PL) that comes with the chain. I tried every tip I found on the internet without success, I just managed to get really tired.. Luckily, my previous chain had a PL as well, so I mixed one piece of the old PL with one of the new one and it closed instantly. I still have to see if this combination of old/new PL doesn't fall apart when I go for a long ride, but it doesn't look too bad. I don't know if the PL that came with my chain was faulty, but I had the impression the chain is too wide to leave enough space for the necessary mobility that PL needs. Good product, but after all good comments and reviews I think it is worthy to point out that it might be tricky to mount.

This chain is great value and hard-wearing. It's the second time I have bought this chain. I've clocked up about 800 miles over the winter and thought the chain was due a change, so ordered a new one. On checking, I found the original chain was still only about 50% stretched, so didn't fit this new chain! The chain is easy to fit: feed it around the gears, join the two ends together and push/pull the link together. Easy.

Exactly what I expected when I placed the order. And it's honestly the quietest chain I've had on my bike!

Chaine de bonne qualité qui remplit parfaitement son rôle

Esta es la segunda cadena de este modelo que compro para mi bici de montaña. Se trata de una cadena robusta y resistente, a la cual le he podido dar muchos kilómetros. En mi caso, me sobran algunos eslabones, los cuales hay que cortar con un tronchacadenas. Dentro de la caja de la cadena viene un conector rápido, con lo que una vez ajustada a la medida, es rápido y sencillo dejarla unida. En fin, vuelvo a tener cadena para rato.

Correggo una recensione di tre stelle.... La catena è ottima . Avevo un problema ma era dovuto a un pignone della cassetta che era consumato dalla precedente catena.... consiglio sostituzione catene anche ben mantenuta max 2000km onde evitare sostituzione cassetta (MTB-GRAVEL)
