Very nice bowl
I got this for its colour as I already have a black plastic shaving bowl. This one is quite thick plastic which means it should bounce well if it is dropped (I haven't tested that theory myself). There are small ribs inside which serve the dual purpose of agitating the brush bristles when lathering and stopping the shaving soap tub (the Proraso 150ml size) from getting stuck in the bowl as they are made to fit inside it. The handle is fairly large so gives a nice grip in the hand. While this bowl looks a little expensive, it will last for years and always look the part - if that's a concern for you! Incidentally the Proraso menthol eucalyptus soap comes in a tub which is the exact same shade of green as this bowl.

Will not pollute the ocean, this plastic will be reused for years
I use Proraso regularly and jumped at this when I seen it. Over the years I have had a few clay / pottery made shaving bowls and they are great but inevitably sooner or later they get dropped or fall off the shelf and shatter. This is made from plastic and will last for a very long time, its light and flexible enough that it won't shatter or crack but stiff enough that it is solid and does not bend when using. There are little fins at the bottom to grip a mug soap and the inside is not grooved or rough. Some guys like a texture or groove for making lather but its not really needed, I can lather with a cream in my hand or a ordinary drinking glass when on holiday so although this is smooth plastic inside it works perfectly fine for making shaving lather.I'm sure you can buy a plastic cup from the pound shop but I like the handle and that this is a branded Proraso mug. I shave two or three hundred times a year so a few quid for a little bit of luxury in the morning is worth it to me.

Makes wet shaving much easier
This seemed expensive for a simple plastic bowl, but the size, design, and quality far exceeded my expectations. It makes wet shaving much easier and quick enough for weekday mornings, rather than a Sunday morning ritual.

Pro Raso shaving bowl
I thought the product was ceramic and was disappointed to discover on opening it was plastic. It looks ok and works as expected. I would say it’s expensive for a plastic product

Fantastic bowl - bigger and better than cheaper alternatives
If you shave with a plastic bowl, ditch it and switch to this. There are other black plastic versions available more cheaply, but this has the embossed Proraso logo, higher walls and 4 x inner ridges to act as surface against the lather mix. Superior to the cheaper versions - and worth the difference.

Safer than ceramics and lathers well.
Perfect size for barber brushes above 120mm total length though I trialed the mug with offerings as small as 100mm and managed well enough. The mug is constructed from a good thickness of plastic more akin to a patio garden pot so is certainly sturdy enough. Internally it has four parts that extrude so as to improve whisking of shaving cream or soap.My recommendation is that one purchases the Proraso mug to accommodate either a badger or boar brush, for those of you that have a synthetic brush I recommend you try a shallow bowl with a dimpled base.Trialed using Simpsons Polo 12 BB (10/10), Omega 10098 (9/10), Omega 10049 (8/10)None of the synthetic brushes rated above 5/10.
