Great product, uses rechargable AAs
This baby monitor is great. Don't be put off by old reviews of previous model having poor battery life. This current model uses AA rechargables, so if they stop holding charge they can be easily replaced. Trick is with all rechargeable batteries: run them down and then recharge them. If you keep using them a hit and recharging before they've run down you'll shorten the battery life.Cons: sound effects aren't great, we often use a mobile app instead. Sound effects aren't loud enough.Pros: light show is cool. Sounds/lights can be turned on/off from listener device. Temp reading and alerts on listener device. Also listener device has a torch built in for when u need to go into the baby's room in the dark and the torch automatically mutes the handset so you don't get a feedback loop squeal.

Great monitor, excellent sound
Had this monitor for a week or so and am very happy with it.If I put it quite close to my baby I can hear her breathing so the sensitivity and sound is great. I can't comment on battery life as I have just left it on the charging unit so far as we only use it for a short period of time each day.The only downside to the monitor is that you have to "link" them every time you turn them on (unless I'm missing something) - both units have to be turned on within a short space of time. So unable to turn on, then put baby down to avoid disturbing her, and then do parent unit otherwise it says "not linked".Lots of options for nightlight brightness and volume and selection of music/sounds. The light show is nice, it shines stars and moons on the ceiling or wall (comes with a rubber circle to enable tilting) - which fades softly in and out.

Really like the projector which will be better as she gets ...
Baby loves the music option - sends her straight to sleep! Really like the projector which will be better as she gets older. As a monitor, noise from baby a bit quiet over the music if you have it playing but have never had any problems with not hearing her. Great to have option to control baby monitor with the parent unit.

Great, if you want a deaf child.
- - - - - - - - -// UPDATED //After writing the initial review below, we were contacted by Amazon who arranged a replacement. This replacement lasted until a couple of weeks ago (so maybe 5 months at a push, closer to 4) until EXACTLY the same problem started happening again. We only know that it started happening because the piercing screech of a noise caused our boy to wake up screaming and clasping his ears. Anyone who knows how deeply toddlers sleep - you will understand how loud this noise is.We restarted the machine and tried it again the next night, we didn't even get to the bottom of the stairs before the noise started again. We also found out that it occasionally just does a short shrift squeal which disturbs him and us on the other end of the monitor to. So we turned it off for a couple of days and it seemed fine, until the night before last and again last night. Its keeping him awake. Its damaging his ears (we funnily enough had him in the doctors complaining about his ears last week - no coincidence) - and we have another baby due in October so we will definitely not be risk deafening our newborn with this product. This is obviously a fault with the new shape unit and if there is any way possible we want our money back. This thing should be taken off the market as how many parents do you think have the monitor on mute and aren't even aware that their child is being deafened in the other room?- - - - - - - - -ORIGINAL REVIEW:This is the second of our BT monitors - or rather our fourth if you include replacements. We bought our first BT Pacifier monitor before our child was born. As widely reported by others, the battery on the parent unit on this is unusable after a number of months as it needs to be permanently plugged in - then after approximately a year the connection points on the bottom of the monitor also fail so it can't charge (hence work) either. This was fine though as we lived in a small flat and just used the baby unit for the wave noises and star projections which are great. But we moved into a house and needed to have a parent unit. So we bought this BT 350 which is the updated BT pacifier model. From the outset we noticed some odd changes. We liked the new smaller baby unit, but were irritated by the reduced quality in sound on the microphone. (The parent unit seems to pick up the wave noise a lot more on this model - but not our baby crying....) We missed the belt clip on the parent unit (meaning that you now have to either stuff in your pocket, dampening any sound from the monitor - or carry it everywhere which means that you effectively lose a hand). And we actively hate that there is no timer on the star projection, whereas the last generation of this model turned off after 10mins, this stays, but has no visual cue on the parent unit that it has done so.Then after just a fortnight we noticed the cruncher. The frankly dangerous nail in the coffin. The baby unit now lets out a massive high pitch squeal when you turn it on - the kind when you touch the parent unit and baby unit together - and so we had to stop using the wave noise. Then we noticed that every time that the battery (suddenly) dies on the parent unit then the baby monitor lets out the same high pitch squeal.... which in turn wakes up the baby. Not ideal and probably damaging to ears it was so loud! The thing is that we threw away the box. So I don't know how to replace it because of the lovely returns policy.Stay away. Please stay away from this thing.

Very easy to setup once initial charge is done
I have been very impressed with this unit which we have been using for a week now.Very easy to setup once initial charge is done. The sound quality is superb, no problem picking up our little one even when his moses basket is at the other side of the room to the receiver. Have tried up to a distance of about 20 metres apart so far and works flawlessly. Not overly impressed with the night starry lightshow feature, I don't think it is very bright, I'm sure it is ok in a pitch black room but we leave a night light on currently and it's not very strong on the ceiling. That being said, I bought it as a monitor and as a monitor, it is superb.
