Janome 2200XT Sewing Machine Sewing Machines

My first sewing machine and I am very pleased. This is easy to use (so far..) and the instruction booklet makes sense ! This machine is quite sturdy but lightweight. It is easy to thread, has a nice variety of stictches and is also a nice looking machine. It comes with a variety of spare 'feet' and some tools and oil for the machine. I bought a 'walking foot' (also available on Amazon) as I'm making a quilt which was easy to install. It also comes with a cover which is nice to have. I did quite a lot of research before choosing this machine but having read reviews on reputable sites such as Good Housekeeping and Which, and a few other reviews, this machine kept popping up as a great entry level machine. Don't waste your money on a cheaper 'toy' that won't allow you to progress as your skill level improves. This will help you learn and progress and will still be a machine you can use at an advanced level. Well worth the money and I would recommend this.

Great little sewing machine for the money. I bought this because I didn't want to spend too much money but wanted a machine that was going to be reliable and have enough settings to do basic craft and refashioning projects at home. I haven't been let down. I have been using this machine for over a year now and I really like it. It comes with a handy instruction booklet that is easy to understand so is great for a beginner or someone who hasn't sewn in a while like me. It also has a troubleshooting section and tips on things like getting the thread tension right, how to use the different stitches, how to wind and install the bobbin, etc. This is the first electric sewing machine I've had (I used to use the old hand-cranked ones), and I was a little worried about whether I would have enough control over the speed. I needn't have worried. It is easy enough to control as the foot pedal is nicely responsive to pressure. If you just want to do one or two stitches though you can turn the wheel by hand to get precision control. The sewing machine itself is heavy enough to feel good quality, but not too heavy meaning it's easy to take out and put away. It also has a really handy little space hidden inside the casing where you can keep spare feet, bobbins etc. The machine comes with a nice selection of basics like spare bobbins, a selection of feet, some oil, a cleaning brush and a stitch unpicker. This meant I didn't need to bother buying these things separately. The machine has a decent variety of stitches and is very easy to use. My only gripe is that the foot pedal feels like it's made from quite cheap plastic, and doesn't feel that sturdy. However it hasn't broken yet! The cable between the machine and the foot pedal is also not very long, so you can't use the machine on a high table. This is worth bearing in mind perhaps if you are tall. Overall good value for money and a nice quality, easy to use machine.

As a beginner, you need your initiation into sewing world to be very smooth. That is exactly what I got when I ordered the "JANOME 2200XT" from SEW ESSENTIAL after thorough research. Excellent communiction up to the last delivery moment (26hrs), can't fault it. Great looking and presentable sewing machine. My sewing machine was an A* at my first sewing workshop with people asking for how to get one. Even my instructor liked it. I made a top and a skirt during the sewing workshop. Looking forward to making more things. This machine came with 16 assessories which makes it easier for beginners. The bobbin in the bobbin case was a little difficult to get out initially, but I soon got it out with a needle and it has since been fine.

As this sewing machine was to replace my trusted/sturdy machine I had for over 40 years, I was amazed how sturdy and good this machine was, for a very reasonable price.

It runs really smoothly and the foot pedal is very easy to control as is the reverse stitch. I haven’t tested it to the full yet as I have nothing complicated to sew. Sadly I did find the zigzag stitch too wide for my wee buttons. Had to resort to sewing them on by hand. 😒. A great beginners machine.

Delighted with a robust and easy to use machine that does everything I wanted. Then a week or so later I hit a mechanical problem which I tried hard to solve but eventually decided the machine must be broken. I complained to Amazon and was contacted by the seller with a promise of a phone call from Janome in the hope of solving the problem. Within 24hours of my complaint Janome called me and knew just what I was doing wrong. Problem very easily solved.This is excellent service from both seller and Janome and a machine I am very pleased with.

I got this as a gift for retirement and was nervous at buying a machine as it is a long time since I used one. I picked this as I had previously had a Janome many years ago. I am so glad I picked it. It is easy to use and can manage even denim alterations. Would definitely recommend for beginners and intermediate sewers.

I wanted a good quality, easy to use starter machine that I wouldn't out grow when I moved onto more intermediate sowing projects. This machine fulfills this need completely. It's instruction manual is easy to read for a beginner, and I was sowing withing 10 minutes of first set up. I havent used the additional feet the machine comes with but am sure they will be extremely useful. Comes with a nice number of bobbins, don't have to unwind or purchase additions. Comes with a 3 year manufacturer guarantee so don't forget to send it off when it arrives.Overall a lovely machine for beginners and advanced uses alike. Brilliant value for money.
