Geniune part - highly convenient to supplement existing one bowl to keep ice cream coming
If you own Andrew James Ice Cream Maker Machine, you know that it works remarkably well (exceptionally well, considering the price), but the biggest annoyance is that is comes with a single bowl which needs to be re-frozen before each use - which could take 8-24 hours depending on your fridge. In busy household, it could be...well... limiting.Obviously, you could buy a bigger (and more expensive) machine. Or, get a second bowl (like this one), so you could swap it in and out of the fridge doubling you ice-making capacity. For £11, it is a no-brainer.So we have two bowls now (original and this one) and expect them to last forever.

Various flavours successfully made first time and family enjoyed it and made good comments too
Made strawberry, mint chocolate, banana and vanilla ice cream. Vanilla recipe is a bit short on instruction steps in the method, so you might be better advised to look at one by Nigella Lawson available online and adapt it as it does not use an ice cream maker. Did try a mango ice cream, but stupidly forgot to put the paddle in, so it ended up being consumed as a fruit smoothie and then some mango ice cream as scrapings. You must allow space as the mixture does expand as it freezes. It can be left on to automatically cut out when it is solid enough as there appears to be a cut-out device in it. You may have to additionally put it in a freezer to make it more solid for serving on a cone. If your freezer is set too high, it may make the ice cream very solid if it is in there too long. It may only need another hour in the freezer to serve still nice and soft. Beware not to scrape anything out with a metal implement and follow all instructions to cool any heated mixture in the fridge first as this will speed the freezing process when in the ice cream maker.

Great addition to the standard system
It really doesn't take up too much space if, like me you fill it with small frozen items like peas or fruit. It really helps if you want to make more than one batch or flavour in the same day. The which guide was not wrong, the andrew james machine is very good indeed and super value

A bargain for the price! Makes great ices and easy to use.
A very good ice cream maker indeed. I use mine frequently to make all kinds of ices. It's such a bargain for the price. just make sure you keep the bowl in the freezer at all times so that you can make ice cream whenever you feel like it. You must make sure that you freeze it a good 12 hours in advance otherwise, I've found that the ice cream takes forever to churn. Also, don't turn off the machine unless you are sure it's ready because if it's not you can't restart it very easily - the paddle won't turn if it's wedged into the frozen ice cream. Other than that minor inconvenience this is a very good purchase.

Not needed as ice cream did not work

My friend is going to love it.
I've not used it as I bought as a Christmas present for a friend. But it was delivered with care and appears to be in perfect condition.I'm glad I bought a recipe book to go with it as the one included with the machine is very basic. And the mixing bowl is very small so the extra one I purchased will come in handy.I think I would say it's good value for money although the cost of the extra mixing bowl at more than half the price of the entire machine was a bit steep.
