Easy set up, easy to use

The media could not be loaded. My 3 month old puppy picked this up almost immediately. They only arrived yesterday and she already has learned to hit "play" if she wants me to engage in play with her. I trained her by withholding the toy then hitting the button while also saying the word "play" several times. I then stopped hitting the button and she quickly realized that if she hit it play would start back up. The only issue is she's struggling to hit the button every time and gets really frustrated. If she's really close then I'll sneakily hit it for her so she doesn't feel defeated.

Best Thing I Ever Did for my Dog Was to Buy These Buttons

I purchased this set 2 years ago and it changed everything for the better. I got this for my senior, 15 year old beagle about 5 months before she passed away (YES old dogs CAN learn new “tricks” - though this isn’t so much a trick as it is a way to communicate their needs). I continued with my next dog, and I have such an amazing relationship with him because he can advocate for himself, ask me for specific things that body language and barks alone wouldn’t be able to specify. I now buy larger sets directly from the FluentPet website, but I love that they still sell these affordable starter sets on Amazon - and it looks like they offer even more options on Amazon than they did back when I ordered this set. I was searching today to see what they currently offered on Amazon, and to my surprise, I saw some comments people have left who are giving up quickly and saying they’re going to return the set, and just some weird negative reviews. Since I never posted a review back when I purchased these, I figured it’s a good opportunity to tell you, as someone who is now fairly experienced in teaching my dog(s) how to use these buttons - it sometimes takes time! Don’t give up on your pet. Just because they aren’t pressing - it doesn’t mean they are too dumb, or that they don’t understand - they just haven’t decided yet whether interacting with the buttons is worth their time and attention. Honestly, it takes, what, 2 extra seconds out of your day to keep modeling the word - they get it; they understand what you’re doing - and eventually, they WILL press the button. And at that moment, when they finally press their first button, you will see the potential for what you and your pet can do with this new world of communication they now have at their fingertips (err… pawtips)! I can’t say enough good things about FluentPet, I’m a huge supporter of this brand and the talking-pet movement, mainly because of the higher quality of life it offers our furry family members. Anyway, these buttons are good quality, the brand is reliable, customer service is super helpful, basically, I’m a super fan here. If you can do one good thing for your pet today, BUY THESE BUTTONS. :) I included a photo of the very first button for “outside” that I gave my 15 year old beagle two years ago. I am never going back - my current pet and all of my future pets will have buttons. Just remember, be patient!

Don't start with the word TREAT!

The media could not be loaded. Let me first start off by saying that in my video this was the second day that I worked with my dog on these buttons. Also before I started this video he woke up out of bed came out of the room and I asked him what he wanted and he immediately walked over and hit the outside button one time so I got up and took him outside immediately. I wish I was able to record that. This video is what happened when we came back inside. This dog is my service dog but when he doesn't have his vest on he's your normal average dog and he's a little bit crazy LOL. He had some formal training from somewhere but we don't know what those commands were and every time we would ask him if he wanted to go outside or if he wanted to do something he would grab one of his toys and either throw it around or bring it to us and we didn't understand that communication. So when I heard about talking buttons I thought maybe this will work. But sometimes his brain can't handle things and he gets over excited so I was worried and as you can see in this video he got a little over excited haha. You will notice that he goes to his toy bucket to grab a toy but then he stops and he's actually starring at the buttons and he knows there's something else that he is supposed to do and that's when he made the decision that he had to go and push the button although he didn't actually push the button he got crazy and tried to rip it apart LOL but again this was only day two and he is picking up on this a lot quicker than I ever thought he would.I purchased this off of Amazon in case it didn't work so I could return it but I don't think I'll be returning it, in fact I'll be purchasing more buttons. I wish they would sell the buttons on Amazon because I have no idea how long shipping takes from their direct website. The only thing I didn't like was that on their website they offer no returns no guarantees no nothing if the package is opened in any way shape or form because in their words they "won't be able to resell it". I didn't think that was right, I think a company needs to stand behind their product regardless of whether the package has been opened or not.The product seems pretty durable and I found out on the website they make a solid edging to go around the puzzle piece tile which I will be purchasing I just worry about my dog's long nails and it actually tearing up the foam. With this product you only get the two mats and two buttons and at first I didn't understand why but I get it now, you work with one button on a pad and another button on another pad until they actually learn and then you can add more buttons so it makes sense.I'm glad I read the pamphlet inside first because I almost started training him by using the word treat and I'm glad that I didn't. If you start training with the word treat then they will think that anytime they hit the button they will get a treat and you don't want that. You want communication. I saw a Tik-Tok user once say if they hit the outside button even on accident you must get up and take them outside immediately letting the dog no that if they hit that button this is the result of that button and it truly reinforces that and they learn quickly. You might get tired of going outside multiple times but so will they if that is not what they want.I wasn't super crazy about how small the buttons were and I didn't think that the small buttons would work for my dog who has such a huge paws. He is ½GSP & ½Bloodhound so he's a big boy. But I don't think the size of the buttons really matter. So in the end I'm satisfied I just don't think it's quite perfectly five star quality because I feel it should come with more buttons at this price.
