Just a brief summary of other books, nothing new
Let me start by saying that I agree with the material in the book, it's just an incomplete treatment of the subject.I guess I was one of the few who was never fooled into listening to our government as though they were experts on diet and health. So, I never fell for the fat or cholesterol scare that claimed that fat and cholesterol were bad for our health. But if you are the type of person who gets their health information only from the government or medical doctors and you haven't done any reading about the subject then you may find this book useful as an introduction to the subject. But you will definitely want to continue to read other more informative books after reading this one. This book had good reviews so I thought it might add something original to the subject, but I was disappointed to discover that it is just an over-simplistic review of the material that is already out there. Unless, you are brand new to the subject, I don't think you will find anything worth your time or money here. For anyone who has ever read a book or two on the subject of nutrition, diet, exercise, low carb dieting, paleo lifestyle, ketogenic (keto) diets, insulin resistance, etc, you probably won't found anything new here. I suppose I am biased as I have been reading books like this since 1975 when I read Sugar Blues by William Dufty, but some of this information has been around for over forty years.I would consider this a brief introduction to the subject for the person who is totally unfamiliar with any of these subjects. The chapters are really brief, about 5 pages long and barely scratch the surface of the material that it is supposed to be teaching. One could summarize this entire book in about a page or two. Most of it is just common sense for the vast majority of people. I mean we all know that we should sleep and exercise more, avoid stress, and improve our eating habits by avoiding too much sugar, right?Yes, many people may still not know that fat is not the enemy and that eating fat does not cause heart disease and that a low carb, moderate protein, and high fat diet is a healthy lifestyle and a good way to lose excess weight, but there are many other books that do a much better job describing the details of that lifestyle. The best part of this whole book are the references to other books, many of which I already own. If you are new to the subject, then I would recommend that you read these other books which are must more complete and detailed:Keto Clarity by Jimmy Moore, Ketogenic Bible by Dr. Javob Wilson & Ryan Lowery, The Primal Blueprint by Mark Sisson, The Paleo Cure by Chris Kresser, Wired to Eat by Robb Wolf, Eat Fat, Get Thin by Dr Mark Hyman, Fat For Fuel by Dr Joseph Mercola, Grain Brain by Dr David Perlmutter, The Obesity Code by Dr Jason Fung, Superfuel by Dr James DiNicolantonio, Primal Fat Burner by Nora Gedgaudas, Toxic Fat by Barry Sears, The Big Fat Surprise by Nina Teicholz, Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubes,

This is a great follow-up to the original Real Meal Revolution book
This is a great follow-up to the original Real Meal Revolution book.It cleared up a few things and re-enforced the information I have been reading about Banting, sugar and how we have been brain-washed about carbs and fat.I went to the Banting life-style on the recommendations of my family doctor. He had me read about the dangers of sugar and how it is in almost everything we eat. After that he had look into Banting before actually suggesting I give it a try.It has been over 2 years...I have lost 15 lbs, my wheat belly (Ha! Ha!), I feel unbelievably well & fit.I'm off my Statins medication &...in fact I'm off all my medications! (Not that I was on a lot.)The low carb & high fat diet has changed my life!My joints don't hurt, my leaky gut is gone, I don't have heart palpitations any more.I feel and look younger then my age! Excellent summary
I have read a number of books on this approach played with it on and off for the past several years. (Lost about 30 lbs over 3 years ...Paleo) This book provides excellent summary and approach and it includes the caveat that for some of us this is a lifelong commitment. ( A point I failed to take into account.) For the most part I have been able to keep the weight off but still have 50 pounds to go to meet their criteria which seems reasonable to me.Excellent addition is the goal planning section as well as breaking the phases into components. (Stages)The only other suggestion I would have made is the option of including measurement activities for glucose and ketones. One last note… Because of it's South Africa origins the measurements are in the metric system....which I suppose with Google it's not too hard to translate. However, it does pose an intermediate step.

Important read to understand HOW TO achieve Banting/Keto/LCHF diet.
I read this just after I read the first book and I would recommend this to anyone interested in the more nitty gritty details of the Banting Diet. The 2.0 version adds more information and another dimension to the first book. For example, the 2.0 version clears up the fact that:1. At the beginning, your diet will look a little more like a higher protein diet if you need to lose a lot of weight. You want to burn your own fat first instead of using dietary fat.2. High fat doesn't mean a fat eating spree.3. Don't add even more fat to your diet if you have more fat to lose. You will be eating much more fat as you begin to lose weight.4. It states HOW TO achieve Banting properly in phases.5. The updated food lists are important too.

#1 book about what we should and should not eat for a lifetime of good health.
This book has shoved aside most others in my huge collection of so-called health-related books. Now I understand why my health has been so poor until now...75 years.

Turn your thinking upside down
After year's of low fat and constant hunger finally found a solution after our Doctor recommended the LCH(healthy)F diet for my pre-diabetic husband. Be prepared to put your old ideas down and embrace a new way of eating that really works

Not worth reading. Stick with the first book.
What a disappointment. I had read the excellent Real Meal and thought this would give me more of the great Professor Noakes. Instead, I'm sure I would never have gone low carb at all if this were the first book I'd read on the subject, with their traffic lights subdivided into groups. How to make an easy concept harder. They seem to be trying to say they had invented a new diet. Added to this, they repeatedly referred the reader to their website for further information. The reader would then have to pay to subscribe to read anything. My advice to anybody wanting a web site with free advice is to go to dietdoctor.com where the excellent advice is free.

Disappointing
Already had first book which was really good and by following it I lost 2st. and my blood sugars improved to the point my diabetic drugs were halved. I bought this book because I've reached a plateau and wanted help to get over it.However this book I found confusing and even more restricting so it sadly made me lose heart in the whole process. Am struggling but decided to stick with first book and soldier on.

Nothing like the first book
Was excited to receive this book after the success I’ve had with the first one. Was disappointed as soon as I saw it laying on my welcome Matt. It’s small that the first one, which is ok, but you open it and it’s just not the same quality, there’s no colour at all, it’s poorly structured and confusing. Absolutely waste of money. So if your wanting to buy this thinking it’s like the first book, just don’t.

Good detailed description of the plan
Great book, but only 4 stars because it’s takes really long for the writer to get to the point of how the plan works. Too much time spent introducing the authors, etc, but after that, the detail is good. The red book is basically just a recipe book, so you will need the 2.0 green book to break it down further. Enjoy your reading!

Not ‘Awesome’
Odd bits of this are ok; extreme overuse of word ‘Awesome’ is anything but - in fact, it’s awful.
