Pentair170018 Tank Bottom Assembly Replacement FNS Plus FNSP60 Pool and Spa D.E. Filter

I replaced my cracked DE filter base with the Pentair 170018 tank bottom. I put the valve on DRAIN, opened to release valve at the top to let most of the water out, and took off the center strap. I was able to rinse the filter elements off and lift them out as a unit. The only issue I ran into is the the old center O-ring appears to be too large for the new tank bottom. If I had to do it again, I would replace it with one that was not as thick.

So happy I was able to buy the bottom half of this and didn’t have to replace the entire thing. My leak was a crack due to the plug being cross threaded.(pool cleaner I hired 🤨) It was super easy to install and saved me tons of money. The pool company wanted to replace the entire unit for well over $2,000. Just installed this today and fired up the unit and no more leak. 😊

This tank bottom has the internal vertical pipe and o-ring - everything you need to replace the old part. I have very little experience with pools but a couple of YouTube videos and this part was all i needed to save a lot of money on a service call. The old bottom sprung a leak so the problem was easy to identify :) The delivery came a few days ahead of the estimated ship time so that was a nice bonus.After bleeding the system and removing the top (one bolt on the belt assembly), I disconnected the input & output pipes, removed the filter assembly, swapped out the bottom, then reassembled. Fit like a glove. I recommend the part, the seller and DIY'ing the repair.

This part was to replace the bottom half of the twenty-year-old FNS Plus 60 filter because it was leaking from the bulkhead fittings. I had already replaced the grid assembly several times and the gauge at least once. I’m trying to keep the pool equipment alive until I replace it all at once.I was initially concerned when the box arrived because the printed cardboard had “FNS PLUS 48” in large letters. I examined the shipping label and it was “170018 TNK BTM ASY 60SF FNS PLS”. I contacted the seller, but they had no answer so I opened the box and the part was correct.The replacement part now has a steel band where it connects to the top half and the better drain plug that was mentioned in other reviews. When I mated the two parts, the top half would not slide down fully over the O ring. I decided to force it by continuously pounding the clamp and the top with a rubber mallet while slowly tightening it. I was successful with no leaks and the filter works.

I installed and couldnt get the two pieces to fit and clamp. I replaced the orings twice and went and bought a new 400 dollar clamp. These did not fix the problem as the issue was with the base. After modifications to the oring surface and a lot of sweat and mess I made the base fit for my 1yr old lid. Casting must be slightly different. Came in a box that wasn’t for the part or model I ordered so I likely got someone else’s return. Don’t do what I did just order a new filter assembly!

The filter bottom arrived pre-assembled. That was pretty helpful. The replacing of the bottom took me about 45 minutes total. Great fit and I like the re-enforcement ring at the connection between the top and the bottom.4 stars because it is expensive.
