Finally unlocked 2.5GBs for my home network
We finally got high speed gigabit internet in our area and the internet provider offered 2.5Gbps+ speed, but only offered the Eero pro access point as a gateway. The problem was with the Eero Pri6E is limited to just 1 2.5Gbs input network jack and the output ethernet is just 1Ggbs ethernet jack!!! Like why would you do that? Which means if you want to connect your pcs, Macs, etc to hardwire- you'd be limited to 1Gbps.So, let's welcome the Amazon Eero PoE Gateway! I had been waiting and waiting for this to come out, ordered it and it arrived yesterday! All good.OK, so I basically used the EERO app to replace my current Eero pro6E access point (which was acting as the gateway), turned it off, unplugged it. Then I had to plug in my new PoE gateway, it registered and setup. I chose to run the ethernet from my provider into the 10Ggbs port on the back of the gateway. I connected the output of the gateway to my other devices, etc.Voila! it works! Then I re-added my Eero pro 6e access point (which used to be the gateway but no longer, now just an access point). I had to plug it into the PoE Gateway, run add device on the Eero app (you have to stand close to it for app to connect I think), connected and it too started working again. It took me a couple hours and had to do it this morning before folks woke up .I wasn't sure if it worked, but the Eero app and setup was pretty smooth. OH, one other thing I did was take screenshots of my network settings in the Eero app before doing all this, as I was worried I'd lose the settings of thatever the Internet provider had done when they setup -- the good thing is I didn't need them after all. Now, my Mac,PC's are running at close to 2.5Ggbs (the ones that have network card to go that high) -- next up, will buy some PoE devices to reduce the amount of wires for things that are connected to it.Very happy with purchase - see my speed test

Works as advertised
This unit has been working great. Ethernet speeds are as expected, and it is not running hot for me, just slightly warm. I'm not using PoE yet though. I replaced a switch with this so I no longer need to use one of my access points as a gateway. All eero features (app integration, eero Plus, etc.) all work perfectly. One note, as with other newer eeros, HomeKit Secure Router isn't supported as far as I know.

Speeeeeeed
Great product! Fits into my Eero ecosystem perfectly. Provides power to my downstream devices with PoE, and my internet speed is greatly increased as Xfinity has a 2.5gb on the router. Now with this device it's taking advantage of the full ISP speed (up to 10gbe). This is perfect for homes with a central network closet. 5/5

Great product with some caveats
does exactly what it should. I don't use the poe function yet but the 10gb and 2.5gb ports are a godsend for a consumer product. a bit on the pricy side but I was already in the eero ecosystem so this fit right in and makes all the network settings easy to maintain. the ones you can access anyway. 9.99 a month to access certain features is not the move and honestly my only complaint.tldr. if you already have eero routers highly recommended. too expensive otherwise

Hard to use and gets very hot
I have not had good luck with this as it seems to be half a gateway and half a router and it doesn’t play well with others

Basic Gateway for the price
After owning the Eero PoE Gateway along with 4 Eero 6 PoE access points for 8 months, I've found that Eero devices excel in providing consistent performance and stability, which is their core strength. However, there are some notable limitations to consider. The Eero PoE gateway falls into the "prosumer" device category, offering compelling features on paper. Yet, it's important to manage expectations. While Eero devices are reliable, this gateway lacks certain capabilities that even basic off-the-shelf product include as standard features. One major drawback is the subscription-based model for accessing essential functionalities like DDNS and Advanced Security. The lack of transparency regarding what Advanced Security actually entails beyond basic DNS blacklisting is disappointing. Additionally, the absence of VLAN support is a significant oversight, especially for a device targeting the prosumer market. If you're content with basic features on a pricey gateway and already invested in Eero's PoE Access Points, then this device might suit your needs. However, don't anticipate Eero to introduce more advanced features beyond the essentials. Overall, while the Eero PoE Gateway offers reliability, its limitations may deter those seeking more robust functionality.Things the Eero PoE Gateway dose well:1. Solid Wire Speed @ 5Gbps2. 2.5Gbps PoE switch3. 2 10Gbps ports4. Consistent firmware updates (No feature adds but security and stability updates)Things the Eero PoE Gateway could do better:1. Enable VLAN support on LAN with SSID segmentation2. Free Dynamic DNS and Advanced Security3. WAP3 in permanent beta4. Nothing outside of PoE to differentiate itself from other products in their lineup
