It is a cable lock and you can lock the cable in place just fine, but there is a button you can push to adjust the length of the cable even when it is locked. So when I try to lock the cabinet closed by wrapping wire around the handles on each cabinet, it appears locked, but all you have to do is push the button to let you adjust the length of the cord and you can completely remove the lock without using the combo.

It is very useful for me during travel in Italy! I bond my lounges together with the train’s luggage shelf.

I use those on the slopes to lock my ski-when I decided to bring my expensive ones. This one are quite light and reasonably small to just stash in the backpack all the time. However, at very cold days, the cable is not as smooth, and can get stuck sometime. But overall is a value option to keep additional peace of mind when I’m in the lodge. Good buy, would recommend.
