You need filters, but great coffee maker!
It's a bit pricier than I would normally look at spending on a coffee maker, but I trust the Cuisinart brand (I have several other Cuisinart kitchen appliances). We had our cheapy coffee maker for at least 10 years before it conked out, so I got this because I trust the brand, and it was on Amazon 5-pay. Setting it up was easy enough, but you do need paper filters - these are cheap, can be composted, gardens love coffee grounds, slugs don't. There's a basket that at least one of the reviewers thought was a filter, but it's not a filter. Not using a filter (either reusable plastic or paper) means the grounds will get into the carafe and/or get stuck in the nozzle. I just used the plastic filter from the old coffee maker, and put the paper filter inside that. If you're used to instant or cafetiére (French press) coffee, this isn't going to be as hot as that because it's at the right temperature for coffee (85°C, not boiling). One scoop per cup means one scoop of coffee for each measure on the water tank. Please don't make the mistake of using a mug thinking that's a cup - you'll get watery and sour coffee. Coffee cups are actually quite small, so a standard mug is at least two cups in coffee measuring terms. When the machine beeps to say it's finished, that just means it's finished dispensing water. It doesn't necessarily mean it's ready for you to pull out the carafe. Water will still be filtering through the grounds for a little while, so you might want to wait a minute or two before pulling out the carafe. Always run at least one cycle through with just water before you make coffee, just to get rid of production dust or any plasticky taste. I don't like to put the removable parts in the dishwasher too often, because it seems to strip the machine of the oils that make coffee taste good and less acidic, and you can end up with coffee tasting of dishwasher rinse aid.

Fab piece of kit for the price
Great little machine, particularly for the price. The white version named 'pebble' looks lovely in my kitchen. Really lovely the timer feature for my early morning starts. Would definitely recommend 😊

Compact and stylish but difficult to clean
Its a very nicely made, compact coffee machine. It makes good coffee, and it is quiet. I like the timer and the jug which fits nice and snug. My only dislike is that when I make coffee the grinder compartment gets condensation and even on occasion when Im not using it to make coffee. Plus I don't find it easy to clean and the compartments do seem to hold some of the residue even though I take it all apart to clean it thoroughly.

An easy, quick coffee brew up.
I already own a Cuisinart coffee grinder that's been working really well for over 13 years (looks good too) so, to some extent I knew that I was getting a good looking, functional coffee brewing machine. The unit lives up to my expectations, managing to cope with my 1 to 1.5 pot per day coffee habit. The machine is easy to use and clean (it's only the coffee filter holder and pot that actually require a quick clean between brews) and, with a supply of filters, takes no time at all. The machine is equipped with a "Clean" setting for limescale removal (white vinegar and water mix) which, as I live in a very hard water area, is a useful addition - soft water drinkers will get away with many fewer cleans but it's a nice option to have built in. Very little else to say, the unit looks good, works well, is clean with no spillage and makes a great pot of coffee, just vary the amount of coffee that you use (their guide is one scoop per cup where 1 cup is about 1/4 pint which may be a touch strong for some people) to suit your taste, no grounds (with a good filter paper) and no mess afterwards. For me it was an excellent buy at a decent price as it replaced a refurbed machine bought for almost the same price (different maker), which had just started leaking which is why I ordered the Cuisinart machine so, the timing was immaculate and it complements my Cuisinart coffee grinding machine perfectly, all in all I'm more than satisfied.

No more cafetierè!
These coffee machines have always reminded me of an American TV show or police drama where there's always coffee on the go. Tired of cleaning out the cafetierè after just 2 mugs of coffee this machine has enough capacity for 6 big mugs of coffee a day. We've been using it now for 5 days and so far so good. It's very easy to program and set the time. We've woke up to a piping hot pot of coffee for the last 4 mornings. It stays hot for about an hour or so, after which we pop the mugs with milk into the microwave for 60 seconds. The paper filters we bought are compostable so it's a case of simply lifting it out and popping it in the food caddy, no more cleaning out the cafetierè. I think we're using slightly less coffee too. It boils quickly and make the kitchen smell lovely if you like the smell off coffee. It not the most advanced model or the most basic, it does exactly what we want.

Returned after one use
I was looking forward to my first coffee with this machine. Everything was good, from the time to brew and the audible alert that it had finished. The display telling me how long since it had brewed was an added bonus feature. 5 minutes after brewing (according to the display) and after I’d heard the beep I went to pour myself a cup. As soon as the carafe was removed, the machine emptied itself of a good mug full of coffee. Unfortunately I didn’t have a mug to hand to catch it, so it quickly filled the hot plate and spilled onto the worktop (picture shows this) and continued to drip by the time I’d got a mug. Very disappointed with this and don’t want to have to clean coffee up every morning, so it is being returned.

Good coffee, bad lid
I like a fresh brew of coffee and this is my kind of of coffee machine. Simple to operate yet advanced with its rain head water delivery to the ground coffee. The problem is a warped lid. The hot water distorts the lid so now steam escapes and covers the kitchen cabinet above. Expensive mistake!

Great coffee maker!
I’m writing this review as someone who wishes more people would write them with info and not just “arrived quickly!” I am an ex Starbucks Coffee Master from America, living in England. From years of training, I know how coffee should be properly made and how it should taste. This is a great coffee maker! Im sure there are better ones out there but I’m perfectly happy with my purchase! I was sick of using a cafetière and researched machines but a lot of them had grinders attached that would only grind so much per pot. So I took a gamble on some of the odd reviews some left and tried this out. Cuisinart is very popular for drip coffee makers in the states. I knew it should be decent at least. After 10 years here, I’m still getting used to brands I’m unfamiliar with. ****Make sure you run at least 3 full pots of just water through before using it! You need to get the taste out of it. Otherwise, it will taste like plastic for the first few pots. First of all, you need filters. Someone gave it a bad review because she didn’t use filters and it splattered and got grounds in her mug. Even if you use a copper filter, I highly recommend adding a brown paper one to that. It comes out smoother and can be composted. Secondly, make sure it’s ground properly. Espresso grind is way too fine for this and it will come out mucky. Third, use the same amount of scoops as you do water: 4 cups= 4 scoops, 12 cups =12scoops level or rounded depending on how strong you like it. I prefer rounded and occasionally add an extra to larger pots. Please don’t use 3-4 scoops for a full pot. I’ve seen that many times and it comes out weak and very acidic. Even if you make it properly and just add some hot water to your mug, it will taste much better! Believe me. Fourth, coffee shouldn’t have boiling water. I admit that I was too impatient most days to time my kettle so boiled water ended up in my cafetière. So for those who say this isn’t hot enough, it actually is but you may be used to boiled water for instant or cafetières. If you use milk, warm it up a bit and that makes a huge difference! Lastly, for those who are upset that it only stays on for 40 minutes, unless you like the flavour, 40 minutes is far too long to stay on! It just burns it after 20 minutes. I hope my review helps! I’ve had this for nearly 2 weeks and the coffee has tasted great all along!
