LEGO TECHNIC Mobile Crane 8053

It's my first >$50 Lego purchase and I really liked this toy. It's quite complicated and took me maybe 10 hours in total spread over two weeks to put together. the instruction is easy to follow. there are many nice features and so many moving parts! if you want to see this thing in action, just go to youtube and search for Lego 8053. it takes quite some patience and so don't expects young kids to complete the whole thing.

This is a medium sized set (by the technic standards these days). From the box art it looks simple but it isn't - most of the gear trains are really, really hidden in the overall body of the crane. The set is ready for the Lego Power Functions - spend the extra cash and get this, the manual winch set up is too slow to be fun, it really need the extra speed.With the Power Functions it'll also be more stable and this actually helps if you have kids that play "rough" with their Legos.All in all, it's a really fun set to build, makes you want to tackle some more technic Lego builds.

Just bought the lego technic power functions and idea book to go along with it. My son has built and re-built the crane and loves it every time. Works great and looks really impressive when complete!

It was fun to build but not to play with but I could sell it to some one soon smile.

This set is great if u like cranes . If you add the power pack set to this set it is even a better set.

My nephew received this as a gift for Christmas. The day he received it, he disappeared into his room for two hours. The next day he was in his room all day. At the end of the day, he was finished with the construction and as happy as he could be. He told me that he absolutely loved putting the crane together and only had to tweak one part that he installed backward. He will be thirteen this month. I understand the crane can be redone into another design but his work is still too new. He is not yet willing to tear down and reconstruct.GO LEGO!!
