Best for Phonics!
My kids loved Explode the Code workbooks. Highly recommend for their thorough content and for the humorous phonics exercises. It was my kids favorite when they were young.

Great 👍
This book definitely helped my son to develop his reading skills. We homeschool, and the curriculum we were using was all over the place and not working for him. Someone recommended this and it was just what he needed. He finished this book and then we bought the next one. His reading has definitely improved.

I think this might be the one!
I plan on using this book with my 4 yr old. We’re currently learning letter sounds and because of my kid wanting to learn to read I think it’s a good start. In addition to this we incorporate “Teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons” for us it words in conjunction so we shall see how this book goes this homeschool year. There’s 93 pages so we have more than enough to practice.

Great series
I used this series when teaching kindergarten through 2nd grade and loved it. Perfect for phonics, reading and comprehension. The pages are formatted in such a way that once you learn the skill patterns, kids can work independently and at their own speed. Start with one level below so kids can gain confidence and them just let them go at their own rate. Perfect for homeschooling or to enhance distance learning.

Even older English Language Learners can work in this book.
This book was exactly what I needed, and in fine condition, only three pages had been used. This book was useful for a 9 year old who recently arrived in the US, and had a little English reading instruction. It helped with vocabulary when used with an English speaking tutor.

Don't follow all the instructions!
I liked this book because it already had a sentence that my child could just copy! I don't follow all the instructions I tailor this book to my own needs, that's the beauty and freedom of homeschooling! I Don't cut out the words and paste I use letter stickers or you can use letter stamps too! I don't make him come up with his own sentence, I have him copy the sentence right below it! Its a fun book to help your child practice writing and learn their sight words, just remember to go over the pages they already completed, so they wont forget, and have them point out the sight words they learned when you read to them, this will help reinforce what he has already learned.

I homeschool my 5 nearly 6 year old and we've been using Alpha phonics as our primary phonics curriculum but daughter has been giving me a lot of resistance to the written part of the Alpha-phonics programme so I had to go back to the drawing board and I found Explode the Code. Explode the Code is lighter on the written requirements. The child circle the correct letter, word or picture or they must trace for example. It's much friendlier to a writing resistant child e.g. anything more than 2 sentences being too much. She did the practice pages and was quite happy to do all the practice pages in one sitting. I think level 1 is a little easy for her, however, it's great to get her back in a positive mindset towards writing and phonics so best to build from the winning streak we've discovered. I think she'll breeze through book 1 to book 2 pretty quickly. Based on our early experience with Explode the Code this is a win. I recommend this workbook as beneficial addition to a Reception/KS1 curriculum.
