This is a ricer not a potato masher, but we use it for mash potatoes.Much better than the masher with wavy lines.It is very strong and handle is comfortable.

My trusty masher that I had for 60 years snapped at a thin spot. I don't like the wire mashers at all so I searched Amazon and found this one with similar sized holes as my old favorite broken one. On first use it turns out that it works just as good as the old one plus is an oval shape that seems to get to all of the potatoes better. The only drawback is the metal part protruding from the end of the handle. It keeps me from putting pressure straight down when using. I will have my husband grind that off as it's only purpose is the hole to hand on a hook; and who does that anyway? I expect that this masher will be able to have 60 years of use as it is very sturdy.

Wife uses for her mashed potatoes and it is working just fine. The peeler is of solid quality build.
