Hard to put down
Loved this, full of emotions and hard to put down. Don't read this unless you have time on your hands as you won't have any choice but to finish it. Great characters and a wonderful feel to the story.

An ok read
An ok story if not a bit slow of the power of good friends .found the characters a bit dull.

Transporting, thoughtful, gorgeous read
The Moonlight Gardening Club was a great read, full of complex and intriguing characters in a skilfully rendered world both specific - a coastal, holiday town, and universal - a community of people seeking comfort and support in each other. The story is elegantly paced, the characters are both funny and achingly vulnerable in their troubles. You root for them to find comfort. The resolution is beautifully measured and like life, there's no tidy ending. It reflects the themes, and the night garden itself - the dark enhances the light. Loved this book. And would eagerly buy a sequel. I want to know what happens next! Hard to believe this is a debut. Rosie Hannigan is one to watch!

A beautiful read about love and friendship.
The sense of love, friendship and community in this book really surprised me. I was drawn to this book by its title and beautiful cover, I was curious as to what a moonlight garden was. Well now I know. I loved the detail and description, and more importantly how it all brought everyone together, they had a safe space that was alway there for them. At some point all the characters used the garden as a refuge or escape from their problems. It gave them a sense of well being and calm as they connected with each other and nature.I found quite a lot to identify with with Ruby. And seeing Frankie and especially Eion draw her out of herself was wonderful. The way the plot unfolded as the characters opened up more was nice, we learnt things when they did, the twist about Frankie and James, certainly caught me. The Irish turns of phrase in there was nice too. This really was a great book with fantastic visuals. For a debut novel, simply outstanding.

The importance of friendship
This is a story about the importance of building friendships in a small community. In particular it is about two ladies, one young, and one middle aged, who have emotional losses to cope with and at times they clash but thankfully they bond and the young boy becomes very attached to the older lady. There are links with other members of the community and each find the comfort of sharing the garden and the natural world around them.

Nice easy read but very poor ending
I became really engrossed in this book and found the characters really engaging.I was so disappointed with the ending. I wanted to know if ruby got her happy ending but it just all felt unfinished.A sequel to tie up loose ends would be great.

A warm hug of a book
Let Rosie Hannigan take you by the hand and lead you into the community of Castletown Cove. This beautifully written book explores how relationships shape lives, even after they are over. I enjoyed the development of friendships as much as the romance. The town and the gardens are as much a part of the story as the characters, described in charming detail. Some challenging themes are tackled sensitively (infertility, death, cancer, coercive control). I look forward to more from Rosie Hannigan in the future.
