Scientific Back Office of Water Research
'The Secret Life of Water', when you compare it with Emoto’s first book, 'The Hidden Messages in Water', is something like the scientific back office of water research. Here, Emoto really explains what hado really is, this strange concept that seemingly was unknown in our own culture until very recently, except among natural healers and clairvoyants. Yet it is a very old concept, part of the treasure of ancient Japanese wisdom, and thereby part of perennial science.Once I got familiar with this knowledge tradition, I found a number of other books about hado, as for example sending out hado by deliberate intent for healing, or learning the hado of cooking. Myself a passionate chef, I always wondered how it is possible that two people using the same recipe, and the same kitchen for cooking the same food can end up with cooking food that tastes differently. While the dish may even look the same, the taste is different. The Japanese say that the cook whose dish tastes better has a better or more sublime hado. I found books how to deliberately improve your cooking hado so as to cook better-tasting food, while you may cook the same food that you always cooked before. This is not all about hado, it’s just a starting point. From about page 50 of the book, Emoto expands about healing with hado. And he has collected amazing examples from all over the world, and from different researchers, to prove his point. He envisions what he calls hado medicine becoming one day the medicine of the future. He writes:—All symptoms of illnesses vibrate at a unique frequency. By knowing the frequency, it is possible to overlap the exact opposite wavelength on top of the symptom’s wavelength; thus, the frequency of the illness is dissipated and the symptoms are alleviated./51This is something that has been done by the Russian-French researcher Georges Lakhovsky who, as early as in the 1920s, proved able to healing plant cancer simply by exposing cancer-afflicted plants to vibrations that were exactly opposite to the frequency of the malignant cells. Based upon these experiments, Lakhovsky elaborated a cancer etiology and healing procedures for both plant cancer and cancer in animals and humans. For Emoto, the body is something like a complex sound machine and it really vibrates, emits frequencies and can be seen as a musical composition. All organs produce sounds, and all the sounds are in harmony with each other in the healthy organism. Now what happens when we are sick? Emoto explains:—When something goes wrong somewhere in the body, there is discord with one of the sounds. And when even one sound is out of pitch, the entire composition is not as it should be./52A controversial point in Emoto’s science of hado is what he calls the memory of water. He claims that all water has a memory that manifests through the fact once an affirmation has been emitted, and water has been impregnated with such positive or negative intent, this impression lasts. It will not just vanish after a day or a month. But how can we imagine this in practice, and what are the details of this science? How long will the impression last in the individual case, and how to detect it? Emoto expresses himself in terms that can neither be criticized, nor taken as evidence for the ‘memory theory.’As I mentioned in my review of The Hidden Messages in Water, Emoto’s research is controversial with regard to scientific standards applied. While he appears to have given contradicting information to the press in this regard, in the present book he writes, quite honestly:—I admit that the selection process is not strictly in accordance with the scientific method, but simply put, we choose the crystal that best represents the entire sample instead of simply one from the most common category./130The fact is namely that there is never a total uniformity in the water crystals that are formed after the water was impressed and impregnated with intent. There is always a mix. Now, when there is a mix, which crystals are going to be photographed and shown in a publication? It’s well-nigh clear that this is a crucial point in the whole of this research. To argue from the detractor position: if there is a mix, there is no proof at all because when there is a mix, all is potentially in there, and so I can just pick out what I like to pick out, and comment on it.Now, strangely enough, Emoto doesn’t even come up with the idea of a predominant scheme of crystals so that we could establish something like a rule of evidence based upon majority of crystals versus minority of crystals. Fact is that Emoto not only applies intent for choosing the crystals but he also applies intent for choosing the choosers. He argued in interviews that he was carefully selecting the people who were doing the photographs because another crucial point brought forward by the detractors was that if intent is so powerful on water, then what about the intent brought in the water, more or less unconsciously, by the photographer? And how can we detect to what extent the crystals have been formed by the affirmations, glued as paper messages on the bottles, on one hand, and the intent formed in the minds of the photographers, on the other? I carefully put a question mark here as to scientific credibility. While I intuitively agree with Emoto and his research, I think its scientific foundation is far from being established.

Unscientific and Cliché Ridden
This book was a total disappointment. I regret so much that it cost $22 to get a cliché ridden, failed fantasy, fraud of a book. It is mostly written using time worn and unimaginative thoughts on life in general. The attempt to weave in fantasy and unscientific water experiments are awkward and insult my intelligence. The photos are unremarkable and the author has to tell you what to see. Its attempt at being a “feel good” book is comical and, again, insulting. I do not recommend and wish I could get my money back.

BEAUTIFUL - STICK & STONES CAN BREAK MY BONES BUT WORDS WILL NEVER HURT ME? WRONG! WORDS MATTER
In this book you can educate the young people in your life how words have an effect on the water in their bodies and others. Your thoughts influence your Essence. Your body is 60% water and your brain alone is 70% water. The book shows how Water takes on connotation or the feeling of the words used around it. Water samples are taken and exposed to various images, words, music, ect. and frozen. The end results are gorgeous displays of the power of thought and words. Teach this to children it will empower them and yourself for having this invaluable knowledge. Show them the images of water that is exposed to positive affirmations and loving word choices...such as "I love you" the water in frozen and reveals a beautiful ice crystal formed at the top. I would want that beautiful water in my body, wouldn't you? On the other hand, negative sentiments like "I hate you" or "you fool" form into discolored, broken, and/or fragmented ice crystals when frozen. This is an important theme for children. Also a perfect time to teach your children how to use positive affirmations and the power of self love and self love practices. This is so important for your youngsters. It is worth your time, the adult version of this book which further demonstrated these concepts and experiments is called "The Hidden Messages in Water" by Masaru Emoto

Interesting Exploration of Hado Forces and Water
Before getting to the substance of my review, I'd like to point out that this book is very attractive from a physical standpoint, with beautiful, color photographs on high-quality paper. As such, the reading experience itself was quite enjoyable. On a substantive basis, this book is an exploration of water and the impact of the subtle energies of Hado, a force that is present in all things. Masuro Emoto has blazed a trail in the study of the effect of words, music and images on the formation of water crystals, operating under the hypothesis that negative words create a negative reality in the formation of ugly ice crystals and vice-versa. This is very interesting from the standpoint of the transformation of non-physical concepts (thoughts), into physical form. I've always struggled with the mechanical aspects of manifesting my thoughts into reality, and I think this book explains the process pretty well. Having said this, the author himself points out that his adherence to the scientific method is not strict and that his work is somewhat subjective. He also has a slight tendency to stray far afield, as in his discussion of hemp as a means of alternative energy. In spite of these small complaints, I found the book to be worthwhile and quite fascinating.

Fantastic Book
I love this book, it is very insightful with the knowledge regarding how water holds memory and it's lesser known effects on us.

An important work of genius.
This is a very important book for a bigger understanding of consciousness. It is related to : Stalking the wild pendulum, by Itzhak Bentov (on the mechanics of consciousness)This is an organic/biological exploration, whereas Itzhak Bentov's book is a more of a mechanical one.I cannot praise this book enough; a work of real genius.

Nice Photographs
This is the first book that I have read by the author so I may not be fully appreciating his ideas or the way he writes (or has been translated).I didn't feel this is a book about science or medicine. It is more about one man relating his ideas about nature and contemplation through the ubiquitous nature of water and at the same time giving us some beautifully produced photographs of ice crystals. A book to help us become self-aware and improve our appreciation of the planet? Yes. A book to advance scientific or medical discussion? I don't think so. By his own admission, he offers no real explanation and for me, his anecdotes lack credibility.Emoto could have left it at that and I would have been much happier, but throughout the book he seems to be making an attempt to improve the scientific credentials of his ideas by trying to relate them to the theories of great scientists such as Heisenburg and Einstein. When he substituted his own parameters into Einstein's famous 'E equals M C squared' equation, I became more than irritated and the glaring error in the statement that the birth of life occurred 3.5 million years ago (sic, p174) left me with a less than harmonious feeling about the whole book. A simple error, but if the generally accepted facts are left unchecked, what might that say about the theories?
