Great starter scope
The media could not be loaded. The scope works great, the leads that come with the scope are junk you wont get much use out of those so plan on investing in good leads eventually. The software is a little clunky and takes time to get used too, definitely not pico level software buts its useable for the price.

Good for new user
Great scope to start learning about them and a great entry price. Sampling rate gets slow when watching fast cam bus

The HT pickup worked fine on the HT lead from the coil
Arrived quickly and complete, although the CD is a mini and hidden under the flap in the box. Thought it was missing. Needed the upgraded driver from Hantek to work with Win7 64, and had to use the instructions from another user to get it to work. Once working, it did the trick and showed me that my ignition module and coil were okay. The HT pickup worked fine on the HT lead from the coil, but you can't tell which response is from which cylinder directly. When the HT lead was connected to an individual plug wire, it picked up noise from the adjacent plug wires making the reading confusing. Good news - its cheap. Bad news - its cheap. It already paid for itself, but it's not terribly impressive. The documentation from Hantek is terrible. Thank god for YouTube videos and internet forums.

Hantek 1008C 8 Channel USB Automotive Diag Scope
To begin if you are looking for a 100mhz/channel high end scope, this is not it and don't even try to compare them. Now if you are on a home project budget this is a usable solution. It has built in function in the software that allow many automotive diagnostics. Use the setup window to pick diagnostics, then chose what you are testing, Like, ignition, then primary voltage and current. The software auto configures the setting required. As with any test or analysis equipment basic technical skills are needed. Gives acquitted results for automotive debugging. For the cost I was quite surprised. ( I am a retires IT/Computer engineer, your mileage may very.)

Software makes it (almost) useless
I ordered this and was able to generate a square wave for about 2 minutes. Then the software crashed. Now when I open the software it crashes immediately. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting, different computers and different versions of the software, so I figured it was a hardware problem and sent it back. Got my new one today and it does the same thing. Then it randomly healed itself and started working? I was able to plot some interesting waveforms that allowed me to eliminate some hypotheses I had about a misfire.tl;dr software is a dumpster fire, scope works well enough.

I really wanted this scope to work but it didn't.
I can get past the lack of any useful documentation/instructions, pain getting the software and drivers to work in x64 Win7 or Win8 but the unstable software and hardware were too much. The scope software would intermittently drop out the USB connection/communication to the scope hardware module regularly on ~3 min intervals after about 10 mins of operation. I tested on two separate computers one with Win8 and one with Win7 with same behaviors. It only seemed to work fine for measuring low voltage square waves. The main reason I wanted this unit was for secondary ignition waveforms and it did not work at all for this usage scenario. Upon connecting the supplied BNC HT ignition probe to any secondary ignition cable, the software would not display a waveform, it would and say it was searching for a signal and sometime it would even crash the computer OS. My guess is a driver issue - I did however download whatever I could glean as being the latest drivers from Hantek's web site and also checked their support bulletin boards. Very disappointing overall experience as I wasted a good bit of time trying to get it working. The only upside is Amazon stood behind the product and processed a return for me. I understand that one can't expect much for something priced this low but I'd expect it to at least work for the most basic functions its advertised as supporting. The only thing I didn't try is setting up an XP SP3 OS build to test on.
