I've only used these crocks twice, but they did the trick so well that I feel comfortable sharing my thoughts already. I bought these crocks for a home made French onion soup. I have a smaller set of crocks with lids from Le Creuset. The problem with those is that they are just too small and they don't have handles. With the handles and using oven mitts, you can easily transfer them from the oven to the table. But be sure to warn people as the entire crock is very hot. A suggestion would be to purchase and serve the crocks with heat proof handle sleeves.These crocks are a perfect size as you can have both sizable portion of soup as well as a big old pile of cheese on top of toasted French bread. The crocks kept the soup warm for a very warm time and cleaned up easily. For something that I will only use twice a year, I thought the price was right. They also look really nice with their classic blue styling.

I needed new Ramekins to replace some very old and tired items. Although these are rated as soup bowls, they are useful as pie dishes, stew bowls, fancy dessert dishes and of course as soup bowls.Very handy items.Pleased with purchase.

They are gorgeous and can be used for more than just french onion soup, however they are very large (which isn't always a bad thing). We did notice that the same potion of soup from our old bowls sits much lower (b/c it's larger) and in consequence we needed a short broil at the end to brown the cheese. All good tho, they're well made and what we wanted!

These are heavy duty large soup bowls. They are easy to clean and oven ready.I have made french onion soup at least 4 times now and they work great. They are LARGE, and one bowl of soup in this thing will fill you up.I also use them in the microwave as well when reheating homemade soup soup. Since they are LARGE, they easily hold a whole can of processed soup from the grocery store as well.We absolutely love these beautiful soup bowls.I would most certainly recomend them to anyone looking for large soup bowls that can go both in the oven as well as the microwave.Now they are LARGE, so if you just want something to serve an appetizer soup you might want to get the smaller ones.
