After Trying 3 Different Brands, I switched to Solgar
After reading Northshore’s review, I switched to Solgar for my 3,6,9 oil. I was buying Udo’s choice, which is excellent but very expensive. Erasmus Udo wrote the book on essential oils & says that flaxseed, properly processed, is an excellent choice for omega 3. I was buying fish oil and am happy to turn to a plant source. I fear our oceans will be drained of certain species of fish in my lifetime due to overharvesting. I tried Flora flaxseed oil but sent it back. It was leaking & tasted rancid. Not sure why it would be an Amazon choice. None of my Solgar bottles have been bad. You should choose a glass bottle & not plastic for this oil. Glass will not break down & leach particles into the oil. The product should be shipped refrigerated but none of mine has shipped with a cold pack. The less time shipping, the better. Be sure to keep the bottle in the refrigerator. Solgar oil is smooth & has very little taste. Solgar, please keep up your quality control & don’t switch to plastic bottles or alter your processing methods.

I tried 4 brands of flaxseed oil. Here are the results.
I looked at the reviews for a lot of the flax oil products and they seemed to be all over the place, so I bit the bullet and ordered 4 of the better ranking products so I could compare them side by side. I bought NOW Cold-Pressed and Unrefined Certified Organic Flax Seed Oil Liquid, Nature’s Way Flax Oil USDA Organic, Puritan’s Pride Cold-Pressed Organic Flaxseed Oil, and Solgar Earth Source Organic Flaxseed Oil. They were all well before the expiration dates. Here is what I found: The NOW Flax Seed Oils was downright nasty. It was bitter and rancid tasting and was a huge disappointment. The Nature’s Way Flax Oil wasn’t much better. It was too much of a hassle to return them, so I tossed them both in the trash. The Puritan’s Pride Flaxseed Oil was better, but was still somewhat bitter. The Solgar Earth Source Organic Flaxseed Oil was the cream of the crop. It had a mild taste and was head and shoulders better than the rest. I hope this helps everyone who is looking for flaxseed oil.

The taste changed for the worse
I loved only this brand solgar in glass cold pressed org and it had such a nice mild flavor unlike the ones in plastic which were horrific. I added it to my salads and many other dishes. But the new shipment I received in feb and march don’t taste like the previous flaxseed oil that I used to buy from solgar. I can see it is fres and has a good exp date but the tast is really uch. I needed to try all kinds of ways to hide that taste. It tastes like the other brands. Did they change the faxed or manufacturer or method of cold press? whatever it is, it is really bad. I miss the other mild pleasant taste. I would use a lot of it bec it tasted so good. Now I am wondering how I can force this down. It tastes sooo bad Just very disappointed bec I loved the old mild taste. Why did they change it. I think I may need to find a different way to get omega 3. This was really hard to take. I still give it 4 stars bec it’s glass, cold pressed and org. But taste I would give 0 stars. It’s horrible now, very disappointed I hope they will change it back.please note this change happened in feb 2023. All the yrs before it was fabulous and I loved pouring it in everything. What happened!!!!!!!.

Decreases LDL and increases HDL
Just eating this every day decreased my LDL (bad cholesterol) and increased my HDL (good cholesterol). I got my HDL up to 75 and my LDL down to 125. All I did was eat flax seed oil every day for about 6 months, and I also ate a lot of kale whenever I eat something with a lot of heavy fats in it. I think the kale fiber helps to absorb a lot of the bad fats. I chop some kale, let it sit in some vinegar, and eat it as a salad or mixed into whatever it is I'm eating. If it's a sandwich (think: heavy burger), I put the vinegar'd kale on the sandwich and then eat some on the side. It's not a bad trade off. I also think the acidic vinegar does something positive, but not sure. I mix this oil with unflavored whey protein and milk. I sometimes add potassium salt and magnesium salt because I tend to be low on electrolytes. Grrr. It's actually a good breakfast to start your day. The good fat and huge amount of protein in the morning works very well for me. Carb-heavy breakfasts are terrible for me. Sidenote, I also sometimes put it in my coffee which is probably weird but I find it to be a pretty good way of eating the oil. Not my fave, but it works as an alternative to whey protein + milk combo. And I store the bottles in the fridge as soon as they arrive. I wash the bottles off, then straight to the fridge until they are used up.

Perfect to season my cast iron pans!
I received some cast iron pans for Christmas and needed to season them properly. Knowing that the best oil to season with is Flaxseed Oil, I went looking and found this lovely organic oil. It works like a charm! Nice consistency, pleasant scent, spreads with a paper towel evenly on my pans, and leaves a lovely coating on my pans once baked at 450 for an hour. My pans turned a beautiful shade of black! My pans are nice and slick, as though a non stick coating had been sprayed on them. (this took about 4 to 5 cycles of rub on oil then bake at 450 degrees to achieve) Absolutely love this oil! If you are looking for a nice oil that will give your pans the look and feel of traditional cast iron, then this is the oil for you. I highly recommend it! If you are looking for an oil that will
