Can be intimidating but worth it!
Bought this light set for my 12 year old son for Christmas to go with the Lego train he was getting. I had imagined it was going to be like a light set I had previously gotten a few years ago for the Ecto 1 where the circuit was algready made and it was just switching out pieces for pieces with LEDs in them. Instead you get about 15 small ziplocked packs containing different electrical components and you have to follow the directions and plug wires in and so forth. At first it was really intimidating as I knew very little about electrical circuits and tiny LED boards. But I have to say everything was labeled really well and the directions gave step by step clear instructions on what to do. In no time I had it all installed and lit up.I did run into a point where after I got it all hooked up nothing past the engine car was lighting up. But luckily from putting lights in legos in the past I came to the conclusion that I had the wires too pinched in some areas and after readjusting and putting a bit more slack in the wires it all worked 100%.The battery pack that comes with it is pretty bulky though and you might have an issue hiding it. I ended up using a slimmer rechargeable USB stick instead of the AA Battery pack and was able to hide it in the second car much easier that way.So don't be scared to get this light set just know that it's a little too advanced for kids and if you're getting it for your child you're going to have to be the one installing it. But it looks amazing and adds the perfect touch to your lego set.

It never did work
Since it is time for Christmas gift giving I wanted to let parents and grandparents know that we bought this light kit for our grandson last year. They just now told me that he and his dad worked for hours taking it apart and putting it back together several times and never did get it to work.

It's ok...not great!
Poor design could have put a switch on top of the battery pack. Current design ~ you must remove the battery pack every time you want to turn it off or on. :(Better yet create a small remote control so you aren't constantly touching the battery pack.Wires can be seen it looks sloppy.
