I like them
There are some negative reviews about these cassettes, and while I respect those opinions, I have not had that kind of experience. I bought a couple of these and compared against some other, similar spec’d cassettes, using a Tascam Porta07 and a Yamaha MT4x. To my ears, they sound very good, no problems with hiss or other extraneous noises. Good quality.

Extremely poor tape quality unusable for recording
I decided to ignore the negative reviews and ordered this TASCAM Type II cassette anyway. Unfortunately, the reviews were absolutely correct. The tape quality is terrible. The tape itself is uneven, with visible irregularities along one edge. The surface looks striped and scratched, as if it was poorly manufactured or mishandled. The overall build quality is simply unacceptable. Despite being labeled as Made in USA, this cassette clearly does not meet the required specifications for a Type II tape. It does not calibrate properly and produces very poor recording quality. I tested it on two high-end, fully working decks: AKAI GX-R99 JVC TD-V931 The result was equally bad on both machines. For comparison, any old vintage cassette calibrates and records perfectly on the same decks, but this brand-new tape does not. This product is a huge disappointment. I am genuinely ashamed for the manufacturer. This is an extremely poor product that should not be sold under a professional brand name. I can’t use this item for recording music, so for me this is a non-functional product. Do not recommend.

quality of this tape is unacceptable
The quality of this tape is unacceptable. It warbles and sounds distorted no matter what the volume I record at. I bought two in case one had a problem but that was only slightly better and I may have only imagined the improvement. Even RTM Type 1 is better than this. And NOS is way better than that. This tape isn't good for anything, if you have to buy new tape get RTM and if you're willing to buy New Old Stock ANYTHING is better than this!

Not a tape for Audiophiles
Sadly, due environmental concerns, the Type 2 Chrome tapes of the past that we came to know and love can no longer be produced. Tascam developed a Cobalt Oxide compound for Type 2 tapes due to this constriction. If you’re a audiophile using a high-end vintage cassette deck copying songs on to a tape, this is not the product for you. This was designed for a Tascam PortaPro, allows engineers and artists create warm analog lofi sound signature with their recordings. If you’re an audiophile you are looking make a high quality recording with minimal hiss, and no distortion, you’re better off buying New Old-Stock Chrome tapes or a high quality Type 1 tape. Tascam’s Cobalt Oxide tape has too much noise(even when tested with Dolby S NR) and the high frequencies and bass are distorted. I do appreciate Tascam making a new Type 2 cassette, it shows that there’s a growing demand for tapes again
