Motor homes have a magnetic reed switch on the entry door that activates the electric step to open or retract. There is a magnet mounted in the door edge and a wired reed switch on the outer frame of the door. Now here is the catch.....some steps are activated when the switch is open, some when they are closed. The give away may be the color of the switch (white or dark). Any way, if you get the wrong one, the step will operate exactly opposite from the way it should. Maybe you could buy one of each and return the one that was wrong for your application. Must not be uncommon to have them cease working but Amazon has them, a little expensive but what can you do? Good luck choosing the correct one for your application.

Worked as it should....my steps started to work intermittently ...changed the switch and problem solved...Dutch Star..

Don't change the color that came with your coach. These switches are color coded. One is normally open and the other is normally closed.I bought the black one for my Monaco and had to go back for the white one.

I bought two, both were defective, they did not close with the magnet applied.

Works perfectly .
