How often should the filters be cleaned?

Depends on usage and how dirty your pool is. If you leave this in the pool, once a week should suffice, as long as there is not a storm that drops debris into the pool. I alway spray off the filters when I take the cleaner out of the pool. Having them dry with dirt/sand in the filters decreases useful life.
