I clamp my carbon bike by the seat post. It’s strong enough to work on, but not very solid. It’s a great lite duty stand

Q: It looks very poorly constructed. How long will this thing last, truly?

It’s not poorly constructed. It serves the purpose as light duty inexpensive construction. It has hard plastic attach/pinch point bike frame clamp with protective jaws, made in thin wall piping, and thin wall rectangular base plate. Would not be a bike shop mainstay clamp/vise.
