Astounding art, amazing tarot
I bought this book to go with the Voyager Tarot. As the book explains the cards, this review needs to look at both.Firstly, you can manage with just the cards and the little white book that comes with them; this book however goes into much greater detail without repeating a lot of info from the booklet that comes with the deck. Illustrations are in black and white, but you should have the cards if you have the book. This is one book that doesn't stand alone, because the cards are pretty different from a standard tarot. It is paperback, which is nice because it doesn't become crazy expensive to get the info you need to use the deck effectively. There are chapters on tarot history and on other oracles, they are pertinent and interesting but are not the gist of the book... that would be the explanations of the cards, which gets to be very handy as there is some deviation from tradition (most notable is that the court cards are Child, Man, Woman, Sage-- hard to make them fit into other tarot systems). Each card has it's tarot name a keyword for it's meaning, and artwork that is completely unique and highly detailed.I use these cards for divination because they have a much more positive approach to meanings; it isn't all sunshine and lollipops but it does give a view that incudes (generally) a way to see things in the best possible light. The photo montage artwork can be studied for hours on end-- there is that much to see (BUT-- to see it you need to buy the cards; the b & w illustrations in the book are no substitute for the real thing). The Voyager system is meant for divination primarily, but has plenty of symbolism from a wide variety of disciplines. The cards are large (about the size of the large Crowley deck) and may be difficult to shuffle (try an overhand shuffle, or mix the cards in a bag) but it is worth the effort. If you can't decide cards vs book to purchase separately, start with the cards... but you will likely want the book later.

The Best One Out There
My aunt and I have perused many different types of tarot cards over the years. This one is the best. Hands down it is the one with the most detailed, thoughtful message/text for guidance. I highly recommend this product!

Great companion book!
This tome is a must have if you are using the Voyager Tarot. The descriptions of each card are breathtaking and allows you to get inside the mind of James Wanless, creator of the Voyager Tarot. You learn what inspired him to create each card and gain insight to the meaning of the elements of each card. Buy this book and face each card with fresh eyes so you can learn and grow as a reader.

Tarot for "Normal" People
I like this approach for using tarot as an external psychological tool. Paul Chek put me on to this book and it's definitely a great tool for developing intuition.

An excellent guide for intuition, reflection and LIFE
This book -- a companion to the Voyager Tarot deck -- is an excellent tool for exploring the power of the symbols and your own intuition. it's brilliantly written with timeless symbology beyond any tarot deck Ive ever seen. I've heard Voyager called the "GPS for the soul" -- a very apt name. I don't use it so much for making decisions but to explore different dimensions of situations and reflecting on the wisdom and insights imparted from the cards. It is amazing how apt they can be.

Over and above mere description
Voyager Tarot is amazing deck, in terms of a timely connection and also artwork. This book clarifies the meaning of the various pictures on each card and why they were chosen. Symbols and photos were specifically picked to bring together the symbology of 15 of the greatest magical systems mankind has already been using for the last 20,000 years or so and "connect the dots". This book explains how you can use the deck to interpret issues in a modern world. In explaining the methodology used to construct the deck, the book gives one a much broader understanding of the entire deck and how your personal interpretations of same can help you to enrich your life.

A wonderful partner for the Voyager Tarot Cards
A lovely book and accompaniment to the Voyager Tarot Cards; a must to fully understand the meaning and nature of each card. The book blends shamanism, psychology, astrology and mythology to interpret the symbols of each card. The purpose of the Voyager is not to tell someone's fortune, but rather to help guide and direct one in their journey of self awareness and spiritual growth.

Voyager Tarot - The way of the great oracle, the best!
I came across this book by chance 20 years ago, read it cover to cover and spent the next year trying to find the deck. Once I found this deck by chance in Philadelphia, for Christmas in 1991, it has been my deck. I have done Tarot Readings for the last 19 years for people from all over the world using this deck. I think it is for me the best. The book "Way of the great oracle" is a masterpiece unto itself. There is so much knowledge and useful information on how to manifest your life. I think all people should be given a copy somewhere early in their life's journey.

Three Stars
Well written, but again, a very different approach. It will take some time to internalize.
