I like listening to to news and sports when I go to bed. It has a long lead to the radio and takes a couple of small batteries. I like the fact that it has a volume control and that you can press the button to have it stay on for different lengths of time.It is not high fidelity for music. It’s a soft small speaker and does the job.

I have used this model for years, it was time to replace the old one. I would recommend this model over the one without the amplifier. Good quality.

I had to replace my old radio so I decided to change the pillow speaker at the same time. The volume control is not worth the extra wire as the control range is very limited. I find it difficult to hear if the speaker is placed under my pillow but works satisfactory if placed on top of my pillow. I finally went back to my old pillow speaker as I prefer to have the speaker under my pillow.

I had one of the original C.Crane passive pillow speakers, which was great except that my iPhone headphone output was marginal on some podcasts and videos. This Amplified version makes up for this quite nicely. I also like the 1 hour timer to silence run-on sources after falling asleep.My only minor quibbles: 1) It needs a bit more high boost when used under a pillow (even in the Voice mode) for better intelligibility. 2) The cord between the plug and volume control should be just a little longer. 3) The cord between the volume control and speaker could be either shorter (there is excess wire with both parts placed under the pillow) or longer, to allow the volume control to sit on my nightstand. 4) The speaker/pad is a lot thicker than my old passive speaker, so it's a bit lumpy at times.

This Pillow Speaker is GREAT because you have control over the volume. When you're first starting to go to sleep, you may have it a little louder. But, as you're falling off into dreamland, it's really easy to turn it down. And, if you keep it close to your ear, it's very soft and comfortable. I always sleep so much better with my pillow speaker!

WAS LOOKING FOR A PILLOW SPEAKER TO PLUG INTO HEADPHONE JACJ ON TV. TRIED EVERYTHING AND IT WILL NOT WORK. STARTED THE LENGTHY RETURN PROCESS, AND INSTEAD HAVE DECIDED TO THROW IT AWAY. MY TIME IS WAY MORE VALUEABLE!

This is my second one. The first one lasted years. I use this to listen to podcasts on my iPhone as I fall asleep. I put the control under the pillow, and the ear pad on top of the pillow. Very comfortable. This is a good company with a long and solid reputation.

Very hard-of-hearing mom sleeps with it on her ear. (Under the pillow is not loud enough for her.) This is the only product of its kind that she can hear and we have tried a few of them. Nice and soft over the ear. Good thing she doesn't toss and turn a lot. (A normal-hearing person would not need to put it right over the ear. ) Adjustable volume and shut-off timer are great. With nightly use it lasts a year or two and we always have an extra one on hand. Well worth the cost -- she and we are finally able to get some sleep :)
