He answers questions that Star Wars fans have been asking for years and comes up with some questions and answers I never encountered before. It's easy to read for the laity and engaging for the initiated. Review: A Great Book with Real Physics Explanations - I would encourage others to read this book. Whoever wrote this book this definitely has a Physics background, of they collaborated with someone knowledgeable in Physics. The book hit on a great array of topics from Star Wars, and I loved that.

Entertaining and Educational
The author's keen insights into both science and the Star Wars universe are greatly enhanced by his flair for engaging prose. He answers questions that Star Wars fans have been asking for years and comes up with some questions and answers I never encountered before. It's easy to read for the laity and engaging for the initiated.

For True Star Wars Fans
I got this for my son’s 11th birthday and he loves it. This is something that real fans would be interested in reading.

Insight to the science of Star Wars
This book was, at times, a bit hard to understand because I don't have sufficient background in science to easily follow all the concepts. Nevertheless it does provide interesting information about how some of the special effects in Star Wars were created and possible applications to future reality.

Fun read and interesting
This is a fun read that also educated me on space, science and life. Showing science fiction, isn't always fiction

It just doesn't work
The nuts and bolts of the story don't fit and that's important to know. Now if he could just do Lord of the rings.

Fun gift for Star Wars fans
Picked this up for my 20 something son who is a huge Star Wars fan and it was an instant hit. Would be a great stocking stuffer.

Bought this as a gift. I didn't get a chance to read through it first, but the preteen Star Wars fan I bought it for apparently really enjoyed the content. I looked up the author and it looks like as lot of his work is popularly great. No complaints here.

This book is just packed with all sorts of facts and information pertaining to earth science and Star Wars science. Well and clearly written, this is the book for you if you enjoy what can be a dry subject written in a highly entertaining and informative fashion. Great fun.

Mark Brake's thoughtful reflections on the future, motivated from science fact, are always informative, entertaining and engaging. However, I found the lack of illustrations (there are none!) to be a little disappointing given the highly visual aspect of the films themselves (and the price charged for the book). It's still an interesting read but does not reach its full potential and the benchmark set by his other publications (eg 'Future World').

It doesn't take away our fascination for sci-fi or the space frontier. Instead, it will make you curious, and hope that things we create in our minds, fiction, our imagination, ...can be real. Time is the only variable.

I'm a big fan of Randall Munroe's What If? series, and I thought that this would be something along those lines. Unfortunately for me, while this is great for kids or teenagers as an introduction, it's a mixed bag "scientifically" containing far too much speculation, meandering exposition and generally introduces almost as many questions as it answers. Conceptually it's a lot of fun, and it's certainly informative and full of inspiration for the science beginner, but it falls short of any real impact and I didn't find it particularly engaging.
