Easy to install and strong enough to support a decent amount of weight. Look much better than MDF boards too.

I installed this recently and have no qualms at all. Installation was nearly trouble-free, and the product is easily as strong as advertised. There are three prevailing gripes that are lost on me. First is the complaint that the 16x16 packs are the better value. Maybe so, but if your joists are 24" apart, you must use the 24x16 panels - the 16x16 ones will be too short to fasten to your attic's floor. Second are complaints that uneven spacing between joists will prevent installation. We have some sloppy contractors in our area, and yet, all of the areas I covered with these panels fit perfectly, with the tabs between panels interlocking just fine. Finally, some have said the supplied screws are weak and will break during installation. My 18V drill didn't break a single one, and I installed 20 of these panels (that's 100 screws total) in one setting. The only improvement I would like to see are pre-cut notches for stubborn wiring. I ran into several tightly secured wires running across joists that could not be moved. I had to cut out notches with a Dremel to accommodate them and put the given panel where I wanted. Not a big deal, but it did slow me down - it's the single difficulty I encountered.

I'm one of those people who's kinda sorta handy, but for some reason I STINK when it comes to measuring & cutting wood, and making it fit in places where it wouldn't normally go. Our attic is just beams & insulation, and until last spring didn't even have an entrance beyond a 3-foot by 4-foot hole in the ceiling. But my wife and I were determined to use this space for storage. We had a fold-down attic ladder/door installed, but then nothing else was done for almost a whole year after that. The daunting task now awaited us of buying a TON of plywood, measuring it so that it would fit through the door- yet be wide enough to lay over the beams, cutting it all up, and lastly finding a reliable way to secure it to the beams- all the while trying to work in a confined space that was hot as blazes in the summer or bone-chilling in the winter. That's where Attic Dek came in. I remember someone telling me they had seen or heard about some type of attic flooring at a home/trade show, and I decided to punch 'attic flooring' into Google & see what turned up. Attic Dek was one of the first results, and I knew almost immediately that I wanted it for my own project. The salespeople at Attic Dek were extremely nice, but they first suggested I order one pack of the panels (I needed the more expensive 24"), and see how I liked it. Needless to say, I called back a few weeks later to place my order of 10 more packs. It's just an ingenious invention- the way the panels interlock with each other makes installation VERY easy- you can even offset the panels if you have one area that's wider than another. They all just fit together perfectly... My attic is now a fully-functional storage space, and I was finally able to put my car in the garage after nearly 2 years of living in my house! The *only* negative you will come across has to do with the screws. You have to be a bit gentle when driving into the beams, because sometimes the heads of the screws will pop off. I had this happen 2-3 times before I recognized the problem. Be forceful when drilling, but go slow.

I got these because my step-bro is moving in with us and we needed to make some more storage space for us so we could make room for his things. The product was very straight forward and easy to set up. I installed these 8 panels in about a half hour on my own and that’s that I am not a handy man (I’m a work in progress). The panels were very sturdy even when not screwed in, so they helped me move around in the attic. Just make sure you are square when you place your first one in to make sure you’re set up for the rest of your panels. For the installation, I used a drill to make a pilot hole, an impact driver to drill the screws in, two squares to line my first panel up, and random stud finder that my wife brought me when I asked her to get me my square. I used that to hold the screws so they didn’t fall through the holes. So I weigh 223lbs and I stood on the center of the panels with one leg for a few seconds. It bends just a bit but holds me up well. I also stood on the edge of the center and it appears to be the weakest spot. I wouldn’t recommend testing those waters if you’re a heavy guy like me. As far as the screws, seriously get your own screws. These things are crap. Three of the screws I used came apart. Just go to your local hardware store and ask for a box of these and you should be golden. Each panel comes with 5 screws, three on top, two on bottom. You do the math for how every many you need, but seriously, don’t even bother with the screws included in this set. Anyway, After everything is said and done, We now have a little section in our attic that we can store things like our Christmas decorations and our Halloween costumes we want to keep in reserve for the occasional last minute Halloween party, and my step brother can move his stuff in without cramping our style. Hope this helps someone!

I thought it was a bit expensive; however, after installing it, I really like it. I still feel it is overpriced but it works so well, I may buy some more. The instructions were so-so but installation was easy. It didn't have enough screws. Overall, it does what it is supposed to is open so you can access insulation below and it breaths better than laying down plywood.
