Thin blades work well
Cubes well, thin sharp blade make a much nicer meat that the round sharp spike type. The meat is tenderized with out being hammered paper thin.

I Am Not An Animal - I Need To Tenderize My Meat
I bought this 48 pin meat tenderizer from Mercy Shopping, shipped by Amazon for about $8.07. A pure impulse buy since I've seen identical ones sell between $10 - $20. They were clearing them out because the packaging had mispelt the word meat as "meet". The product itself works great. I tested it out on a piece of beef shank, ( the lower part of the leg with the shin bone, cut horizontally into steaks ). It is a muscular cut that usually needs to be stewed for a few hours to be tender, ( aka Osso Bucco). First, I de-boned the meat. Then, I went after the 2 inch thick slab of meat like "the Wolverine". By time I was finished, it was flattened out to 1 inch and was literally minced meat. I marinated the meat in a soy sauce teriyaki mixture for a day. I grilled each side on high heat for about 2 1/2 minutes. The sugar from the teriyaki sauce gives it a nice charred crust. The meat was nice and tender. The meat soaked up the marinade and was super flavorful. I deducted a star because cleaning is a slight issue. I squirted some dishwashing liquid all over it. It is difficult to clean while trying to hold down the safety bar with both hands. The little brush that comes with the device, is useless for cleaning. I blast it through hot water for several minutes to make sure no meat residue is left on the needles.

Great for roasted pork belly
Best tenderizer for pork belly to make it extra crispy. This was really easy use. Its a pain to clean though, easiest way for me was with a toothbrush. Overall I'm happy with my purchase and would buy again.

An Effective Device to Help Tenderize Meat
This device is amazing. Punches nice little holes in the steak. My husband uses it on all steaks now. Happy to have it. Depending on the meat quality my husband uses this o punch holes and then sprinkle Adolfs Meat Tenderizer and sprinkle water on it so It can soak into the meat. This device beats the heck out of stabbing meat with a fork. The only drawback is it can be a little hard to clean because of all the sharp pints. But we love the device and would purchase again.
