Worked shockingly well!
We have a kitchen table that we love, but it is constantly marred with big white blotches and rings from hot AND cold items (unless you put something thick like a magazine under your plate - pretty ridiculous). I don't know what kind of finish it has (poly or ?), but I was at the point of actually having to strip the table and re-stain and re-poly - not a job I was looking forward to. A friend said the table may have been waxed at some point and the white marks were possibly moisture trapped in the wax? "Here" he said, "Try this - I use it on my table after dinner parties" and he handed me an old used beat-up Homax package (He said he has been using the same cloth for over a year and it still works.) It contained a slightly-oily cloth that reminded me of my Mom's old dusting cloths.I was pretty skeptical - how could this kind-of-oily cloth repair all the damage to my table? But shockingly, it did! Even the giant white area where my husband left a big steaming hot plate and the finish actually looked melted. You just gently rub this cloth in the direction of the wood grain and the white spots gradually disappear. I think perhaps it is impregnated with some kind of liquid wax? I'm not sure, but it does seem to marvelously melt away white rings and and splotches as well as some finish damage with very little effort. ALL the white rings are completely gone. So I immediately bought a new one for myself.Though this product doesn't actually repair your table and it won't fix gouges and big scratches, it really made the damage almost invisible. White splotches and rings? All gone. The spot where the finish kind of melted from hubby's hot plate? Its still there and you can still feel it, but now you can hardly see it. It's barely noticeable now.So it's not a complete "cure" for your table, but it does remove white rings very well and does an excellent job of camouflaging many other imperfections. However, if gouges and deep scratches are your problem, this is probably not the right product for that. (I've had good luck with Old English Scratch Cover for gouges - again, not a repair, but a good camouflage. )

Excellent product
The product is excellent. I was surprised though to discover the next week I could have purchased if for much less at Home Goods.

Really works
I thought the era of white rings on furniture was over, maybe due to differnet furniture finishes. But a casserole right out of the oven (and on a hot pad) left a 5 inch white shadow on my dining room table. I ordered one of these cloths and low an behold! It works. White shadow is gone!

Best solution to a dumb move!
I normally don’t take the time to write a review but in this case it is more than warranted. The story starts off with me doing something stupid.(good stories usually do)I put a hot plate out of the microwave down on my coffee table. After a while I removed the plate and viola a deep ugly white ring burned into the coffee table! Ugh!After several minutes of self loathing I set out to right my wrong!First I looked at solutions, home iron, olive oil and vinegar (which i did use and did nothing) I needed professional help! So went to google, all kinds of these one use cloths for just my problem. Admittedly I wanted to get it local, tried Walmart and Home Depot both not in stock must order and ship $25 minimum shipping. Then I tried amazon, should have right from the start! Cheaper than Wally and free prime ship. I apologize to everyone for checking it last but success! So two days later the package arrived. I cleaned my ugly white ring with regular cleaner 409 I think. Dried the area. And opened the package! So basically the product is a tack emery cloth treated with a polishing compound. Not very impressive at first sight. The cause of a white ring on furniture is usually by water or heat burning moisture into the finish. So I commenced my project....I worked in a small area about an inch long going back and forth with the wood grain for about 3 minutes and OMG I saw fading of the ring!!!!So I worked and worked about a 3 inch section for about 10 minutes and had dimininished that section by 90%!I countinued on the rest of the ring overall taking about 45 minutes. Yes it takes time and YES I definitely works. The science behind the magic I’m assuming is a combination of the tack cloth type the polishing color mpound it’s soaked in and a lot of self created friction provided by yours truely. The friction created lifts out the moisture imbedded in the finish and the cloth and compound polished and finishes the area. Stupidly I did not take before and after pictures but it is 98% good as new. There was enough compound to give a quick treatment to the rest of the table fixing a light ring as well. Also I worked on another table we picked up at an auction. Which finished the top beautifully!!!!BUY THIS PRODUCT it’s fantastic!I’m sure there are types of finishes it may not work well on but for me it was fantastic!
