Welcome to the World...as you have never seen it before!!
After a few calls to Electronics Express' ever patient and helpful staff, I finally pulled the trigger on a completely new realm of television experience...the 75” Roku TV. They also gave me good advice on inspecting the TV and even said that I could plug it in BEFORE signing the receipt, which made me feel a lot better. I would not ordinarily feel entitled to take the time of the delivery driver with such selfish details, but I was assured it would be acceptable. The TV was delivered ahead of schedule and in pristine condition. The driver kindly helped me unbox it. I had never seen this model in a showroom, so it was essentially sight unseen. Upon unboxing, I was quite shocked at the appearance of the brushed aluminum frame and feet. The unit has a VERY elite appearance, much nicer than the black shiny plastic of my Aquos. I just didn't think I was getting a TV with such upscale appearance for this price! I was a bit concerned about how this bright trim would show up while watching video in a dark environment. I was relieved to find that the bezel is all but invisible when watching the TV in a dark room. And in a lighted room, it looks outstanding! Upgrading from a sharp Aquos 60 inch, I was shocked at how much more real estate the 75" provides and also how much real estate it requires!  Part of the adjustment was going from a Center Stand to a pair of feet which extend almost the entire width of TV! So be prepared to make some room. I am not one who gives much regard to the mounting method of a TV as far as aesthetics. I do like the feet, but they required a significant effort in designing a method to support the unit from the floor at a height above my office desk where, unfortunately, it cannot be window mounted, and the desk width does not accommodate the wide feet. I ended up ordering a center mount which has been fantastic!https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01CORQRX0?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title    The Aquos previously doubled as a PC monitor sometimes, especially when streaming video. Obviously that is much less necessary with the built-in Roku. Although we still cannot stream Xfinity thru the Roku..bummer. Due to the minute size of icons on a 4K display, I highly recommend forcing your display settings to treat it as a 1080 display...neat trick! I would love to give this TV 5 stars, it is amazing in so many ways. I could go 4.5.I just don't see how anyone could give 5 stars, even for this great price. Am I being too harsh? My 2 minor complaints about the TV are due to more motion lag than the Aquos 120 and the light bloom from the set when the screen is blank. Due to the TCL's brightness and clarity of picture I seldom noticed the bloom while viewing content, however the Aquos was barely discernible when it was switched on. The TCL, sheds noticeable light when left on without a signal. So even though I barely, if ever, notice it when watching a program, I subconsciously realize that I COULD be viewing blacker blacks.  Although the packaging states that it has 480 motion enhancement, I was surprised to notice blur which I never noticed on the Aquos. I may need to research settings to verify if it is turned on by default.   This is THE BEST Roku Remote so far! Not only does it have the headset option, they have FINALLY added the all-important MUTE Button to the side of the remote below the volume control! Yay! I was ecstatic to discover this, as it was #1 on my wish list, and was not mentioned in any reviews that I had read!  So, the only problems I have with the remote now...is that I can't see the buttons in the dark (haha). I thought that I would lament the lack of a numeric keypad as well. I have not viewed much OTA content yet to discern whether this will even be a problem. Also, I wish that you could customize the quicklaunch buttons, like you can with the screensaver. This should be simple. OTA was the first content that I tried and it was easy to set up and scan to a 1080i broadcast. WoW! I was absolutely amazed at the clarity and lack of fuzziness when the TV upscaled a HiDef signal. This was another area that I had great concerns about. No worries, it's B-E-A-utiful! Since 1080 will provide the bulk of my viewing content for the foreseeable future I am very pleased. Can't wait to try some PS4 4k gaming on it! When I manage to get time for another Diablo weekend, I'll update my review. My bedroom is about 14x14. In this space, the TCL 75” really provides the Home Theater experience, at last! So I like watching it with less lighting than the smaller (60") Aquos. The speakers are good quality and I was, once again, surprised at the amount of volume TCL built into this unit. I could not even turn the volume up all the way! I don't have any type of state of the art sound system to use, but I love my old Harmon-Kardon 5.1 PC speakers. They require a mini headphone jack to operate. This just happened to be one of the few TVs that still offer this option...Bonus! I was very glad to see the headphone jack in the specs, as I had expected to have to dole out for a sound-bar (or more) to at least match my venerable 5.1 setup. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this purchase and the option to get a reasonably priced warranty thru Amazon for a reasonably priced TV. If you are looking for a TV in THIS price range, assuming it turns out to be reliable, I would have to recommend this unit over a smaller unit with more features. The bang for the buck just CANNOT be beat, unless its only for your sports viewing, which might accentuate the blur. I did not have much luck searching online for the quality and usefulness of the SquareTrade offering. Reviews posted at Amazon were not very helpful. Hopefully, I will not have to use it, but technology moves so fast these days, I feel like the public-at-large are often the Beta Testers for all this new tech! So better to try and protect my outlay, just in case. Happy 4K immersion everyone!!---Other notes:- I had an epiphany when I first watched this TV. The faces and heads of actors are so large! And I realized THIS is what gives the true Movie Theater experience at home...Larger than Life. I always felt my lust for the true home theater experience could never be satisfied (on my budget)...until now.- I feel really lucky that I got a 2017 model of this TV WITH the headphone jack on the remote. I do not understand why Roku would want to remove that feature for 2018. Hopefully they will get enough pushback on that to at least keep that remote available as an Option if not reinstitute it as standard.- I recently decided to check out The Original Twilight Zone in HD on Netflix. Wow, I was surprised that it is even a joy to watch something so dated on this screen. Even the Black and White seems to pop.- Once upon a time, ordered a TV thru another retailer's website for store delivery (Wally). I made them plug it in and it was DOA, so I left the store empty handed, but also avoided a ton of frustration.)- One of my friends adores her GoogleTV from the previous era and she is in constant mourning over termination of support for the GoogleTV platform. I did not want to get caught in a drama like that, so I favored the Roku platform. Since it is VENDOR INDEPENDENT (and IMHO Superior), as long as Roku is supported and the TV processor can handle the upgrades, I think this platform will have support longevity.- I had originally considered ordering from ANTOnline, to save another $50, but I stumbled on a Better Business Bureau site while googling their company location and it was scary.

Excellent Dolby Vision And HDR Tv for less than $1200
Picture:This 4K tv has 3 HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 compatible inputs. This means you get a true 4K picture, no matter which input you use.It is also capable of both Dolby Vision and HDR picture. The support of either or depends on your input source. For example, I can only see Dolby Vision content on the bluray player or native apps to the tv. The Xbox One Netflix app does not support Dolby Vision. The difference between Dolby Vision and HDR:Dolby Vision is a specific setting that 4K Content uses that was programmed by the team that made the movie. HDR is the TV choosing brighter settings and contrast (in a nutshell). Both look great on this TV. The only reason I marked this tv down was 2 things. One, the sound (which I’ll talk about later) and the other is the backlighting. This TV uses and edge lit method. This means all the lighting is sourced from the outer edge of the tv. This wouldn’t be an issue if you couldn’t see The lighting coming through when you have a pitch black screen. It’s a minor gripe, but if you have a dark scene, it somewhat comes through. Other than that, I never notice it.It does have an always on feature for the motion interpolation. It cannot be turned off. It is tuned just right to my preferences. Some people who really love high frame rate might desire more. If the settings went from 1 - 10, I would say this setting is about a 6, where it is slightly noticeable. My wife generally hates this feature and has not complained about this in the picture.Sound:The sound quality is enough to get you by. If all you want to do is hear what’s going on, this will do. Otherwise I would recommend a sound bar or other option to run sound through. It does have an optical out port.Options:The tv gives you some quick settings for HDR, Dolby Vision and normal picture. The best part is the App that expands this in “Expert settings”. You get all the color balance and white level settings (see the professional ones I use in attached pictures) in the phone/tablet app. I love this because I don’t have the options screen up when trying to adjust them. It’s all on the phone, then switches as you choose the settings. The app allows you to completely control the tv from powering on, to volume to launching apps, so long as the tv and app are on the same WiFi connection. The tv also has a USB port and an aux connection as well as a built in tuner. It is my understanding that you can use usb space while connected to the tv to allow the over the air connection to record and rewind live tv. I have yet to try this, but it is explained in the users manual. The home screen is great. You can customize the background picture or find other themes. You can rename and rearrange the inputs and rearrange the channels. This tv let’s you share picture and video of your own from the mobile app. It is the fastest wireless sharing I have ever seen a tv do without something like chrome cast. Especially with video.Remote:I love this remote. The tactile feedback and small size makes it easy to use. It has quick keys that are not programmable, but you can easily access anything from the home screen. I love the private listening option. You can plug any headphones with a 3mm jack into this. I watch a lot of tv at night and this makes it more convincing while the family is asleep.Overall:This is an amazing 4K tv for less than $1200. You can’t get a pice like this to have HDR and Dolby Vision plus 3 I puts at this size anywhere else. I’m so glad I didn’t spend $1500+ on another brand.
