Fontaniniby Roman Inc., White Sheep, 5" Animals Collection, Nativity Figure and Accessories, Hand Sculpted and Painted

If you're familiar with Fontanini Nativity figurines, you won't go wrong with this flock of sheep. They are exactly as pictured. Two reclining, one grazing, one just wandering around and one looking up and toward the side as if frightened/surprised by an angel or bright shining star. (That is my favorite one). I have the 5" scale creche with a lot of the shepherds and these fit right in. They appear a bit more brown/yellowish in the picture, but in reality they are more of a white - a dirty white as if they are white sheep who have traveled a long way in a lot of sand and dirt. I think they are just perfect and they add to my Nativity display so well, I'm going to treat myself to another set.I arrange this flock in front of/around my "Matthew" shepherd also from Fontanini and it couldn't look more 'right'. Matthew stands tall with a rescued lamb across his shoulders, his gaze is uplifted as if looking far away into the sky. So these 5 companions look exactly right with him. Some tired from travel, some bored, and one startled.I began my Fontanini collection the year I bought my first house; one piece per year because of the cost. That hasn't changed as these are expensive for plastic (my original 3 pieces - the Holy Family - are/were of a ceramic material) so I continue to treat myself once/year for a new figurine. I purchased the sheep this year because my shepherds were outnumbering the flock which didn't seem right. I'm eyeballing my purchase for next year already: I am just drooling over the exotic travel animals for the Magi all decked out in lavish costumes: camel, elephant and steed. Have to save my money though because that 'set' is probably more than all my 21 pieces combined!If you are familiar with Fontanini, you can't go wrong with this set. If you aren't, these sheep would look grand in any creche.Merry Christmas and God Bless.

Reorder mistake. I need to explain why I had not sent the payment for the Fontanini sheep. I had ordered the five inch sheep to go with the Christmas scene on my mantel. The order came with te smaller sheep which would not even show up with the other items. They were so lovely I decided to put them with a table setting of a cretch with smaller pieces. However I stil wanted the five larger sheep for the mantel. So I paid for the first small ones but reordered the larger ones. They came right before the holiday but were the same size as the little ones. I was so disappointed but not enough time to return them before the Holiday. I used them grudgingly on the mantel where they were nearly hidden by garland. I would have returned them right after the holiday but my helpers packed them away with the other trimmings. I will pay for them but grudgingly.

My mother in law bought me a nativity set years ago. Every year I add a new Fontanini piece to the nativity. The sheep are one of my favorite pieces to date. The quality of Fontanini is exceptional. The price is great. All 5 sheep are slightly different. The 3 that stand, stand with ease and never fall over. This is an exceptional piece to add to any collection.

These sheep really add to the ambiance of the nativity scene! I have been on the hunt for years to find a nativity set that was worthy of the hand carved stable my grandfather made for me. These Fontanini pieces are just the right size and absolutely beautiful! The detail is amazing. They appear to be made out of some sort of polymer which is perfect for me as I have two mischievous cats, but you would never know from outward appearances. They definitely look to be ceramic at first glance. I am looking forward to expanding my nativity set year after year with the numerous pieces that are available in the set.

They are very well made and fit in perfectly with my nativity

Came quickly and just like the other Fontanini figures I have. Good price. Just would like the booklet to be about the white sheep since that's what is in the box and it is a gift.
