Can't go wrong with Metra products
As someone who was in the high end custom automotive electronics and custom builds for 12 years I can say we always used Metra Dash kits and wiring harnesses for any aftermarket radio install. I've been out of that business and an auto technician for the last 13 years and I will still only use Metra products for my personal vehicles. This was for my Audi A4 cabriolet summer car so I could add a double din touchscreen with wireless Apple caraway and Android auto as well as to have hands free calls and texts without cutting into the factory wiring or removing the factory amp. The car is in pristine condition and I did not want to make any permanent altercations to it. Buy Metra and just do it right the first time, don't waste money on cheap kits or connectors, you will regret it when it comes time to install.

audi a6 stereo replacement
i needed this harness when replacing the factory stereo in my audi a6. It was recommended by best buy, who didn’t carry it. It worked as advertised and the new stereo sounds great. Be aware that some replacement stereos will not support steering wheel controls if you are replacing the audi symphony radio.

Needs modification to work properly
I purchased this item for my 2000 audi A6 with bose stereo so i could install a pioneer head unit. when installed as directed, the speakers all emitted a high pitched alternator whine whether i was listening to the stereo or a cd. i knew the HU worked properly, and so did the factory stereo, so i checked the harness for possible fixes. i found no unwanted noises came through the speaker when, instead of hooking the rca adapters (on the harness) up to the preamp outputs (on the HU), i hooked the speaker level outputs (on the stereo) to the rca adapters (on the harness). so to fix the problem, i cut the RCA adapters off the harness, and soldered those wires directly to the speaker level outputs from the HU. now everything works and sounds great. I must admit, i expected more from metra. also - if you upgrade stereos, remember to get an antenna amplifier - audi doesn't use whip antenna's,and chances are your radio won't amplify the signal enough (even in the city).

Saved me a lot of work
I installed in a porsche, I ended up needing to swap the red and yellow cables in the socket before my radio would retain its memory. I accomplished that by having a paper clip in beside the pin and it released it out

I hate having to buy these but here's why you have to.
This seller gets 5 stars for great price and smooth transaction, The company Metra bugs me on the other hand. the quality is pretty low, I tried re-pinning a few wires and of course messed up the slot and then just decided to hardwire not using this device. One reason many people I know ALWAYS use this type of harness is for if their deck gets stolen. If the thief is able to get past all of your security and would be in the position where they could freely pull the deck out they will yank til there is resistance, they then look and disconnect the cables and RCAs. If you have a soldered and heat shrinked bundle of wires they will grab there and then pull, probably getting all your important dash wires ripped out at their bases. Worst case scenarios happen so as well as every security technique this harness should not be overlooked.
