I wanted to learn how to cut foam for a christmas village, this product works very well and is super easy to use as a beginner just learning. The wire cutter cuts through like butter, its super. it takes only about 60 seconds to get the rod or wire to heat up, and needs a bit of a rest for a few seconds sometimes to re-heat, but it does very well cutting through lightweight styrofoam blocks. The wire cutter is not adjustable for wider lengths or shapes, but since I am a beginner i dont need all of that.

They work great! I'm glad I got a set of different tools so I can start with large cuts and then work toward finer details. The different tips fit into place securely without any issues with connecting to the power. I have to deliberately avoid pushing them in too hard as it makes it a bit harder to pull them out again, but realizing I don't need the extra effort, it's all good. I didn't get very far with polyurethane foam bedding so I wouldn't recommend this product for that, but it's fantastic for polystyrene packing form of various densities and it's also been pretty good with polyethylene packing foam.

I used this for finishing cuts on polyethylene which it did very well, but I found that after about an hour of use the heating element stopped working. I opened it up and found that one of the wires had come loose. This wire is soldered to a piece of metal that gets very hot. There should be some other way to secure this with soldering as a back up. Anyway, I re-soldered it and it worked great until it came loose again. It’s an easy fix but annoying.

The engraver tip I received in the first set arrived broken. The plastic handle on the engraver tip was smashed in the package. I sent this one back and received a whole new set. The second one arrived functional. However, after the first use, it stopped working. I took it apart and noticed the solder weld was broke. It came apart. I ended up resoldering it together. I almost could not have put this back together because the solder was too big to reassemble. But, I did manage to put it back together. The engraver tip does not get hot enough to be able to engrave anything, however. The hot wire tip is wide enough. I just don't know how long this will last under normal use. The wire does stretch a bit when cutting. If the wire does break, there is a spare wire that comes in the kit. So, that's a plus. The cutting tip is fairly long, but after one use, the shaft of the stem began to bend. I don't see this lasting too much longer. The on/off switch is difficult to see if it is on or off. I will have to place a mark on ON side to identify to which side ON is. I would only recommend this for light foam cutting. Good for beginners. May end up getting a heavier duty foam cutter later on down the road. But, I don't have much use for it. But, good for what I needed.

I bought this to help me cut styrofoam for our spooky town. Since this is my 1st time using a tool like this, I didn't want to spend too much $ in case I didn't like it. But I was pleasantly surprised. It easy to use, cut great, and made it fun to create stairs and mountains. For the price, this is a great tool to get started and get your feet wet. My only complain is that I would like the tool to be flexible so you can access more foam and get more cuts; however, this is not to blame the product because I knew it's limitations. I would recommend this tool to people. I would also say you have to be patient when cutting the foam.

Do not buy. I purchased this product to cut through foam and it barley heated up and the wire broke as I tried to slowly cut through the foam. The foam board was only 1/4 of an inch thick. I tried using the attachments but they didnt cut anything. I was unable to return because I opened it up too late.

Used this kit to cut my foam backdrop for my baby shower and it gave such a good and smooth quality cut. It’s also very easy to use and doesn’t don’t get tired because it’s very lightweight.

Purchased the cutter and it worked pretty well for the price. The carving tool works perfectly the wire cutter works pretty decent but it does chug on 3"+ thick blocks. The cutting tool doesnt do to much unfortunately. But for the cheap model I'm very happy. More Importantly I had the carving knife break on me pretty quickly. It was a bad connection on the heating element. I reached out to the supplier and they got back to me within 4 hours. They listened and took care of the problem right away. Fantastic customer service. Will definatly pick up the next model up when it comes time to upgrade.

Very easy to use, and the element heat up as soon as you turn it on. Good combination of cutter to meet my needs. Easy to switch heating head.
