CANIDAEPURE Limited Ingredient Premium Adult Dry Dog Food, Lamb and Pea Recipe, 4 Pounds, Grain Free

My dog transitioned to this food when I felt his older food was no longer a good plan. Merrick was purchased by purina and the small ingredient type plan changed to a "new formula". My pup likes this food, no issues there, but over time he's keeps on having digestive issues and when my neighbors, who coincidentally feed their two small dogs the same, had kidney stone issues, I've decided to move on.I want to state clearly that I don't know if it is the food, but when the only thing a dog consumes is a single brand of food and when another dog has some issues with digestive track, it makes you wonder. Honestly I don't think we have all that great options on pet food so you simply have to go with what your own pets are comfortable with. I initially thought this food was way over priced, but it came down to a reasonable price, but again, my dog didn't seem to do too well with it and I'm moving on.

A mi chihuahua le gusta. Tiene 14 años y lleva 2 semanas con esta comida. Yo la remojo y luego las majo para que ella pueda comérsela toda. Le gusta mucho.

I cannot offer an opinion on the flavor because I do not eat it. But her appetite shows that my dog clearly enjoys this food, her droppings are perfect, and I don't think she's scratching so much. I hope to continue purchasing this food for her in other varieties.

My Chihuahua-mix loves this stuff. I have repeatedly mixed it with Wellness Core Grain-Free for Small Breeds. Every time, he picked out and gobbled up the Canidae while rejecting the Wellness Core. Wellness Core is a great, healthy brand, but what good is the quality if my dog won't eat it? Canidae is also a high-quality brand and it's about half the price of Wellness Core. Easy choice; I'm going with the Canidae: better price, and my dog loves it.

In all fairness, I can't give a true rating, because it does not agree with my dog's stomach. I tried over a week. First I added a tablespoon to his "unhealthy" supermarket stock, which went well enough. By adding a second tablespoon the following day he was grumbling with belly aches. I so desperately wanted a healthy food for him i worked up to about 50% Canidae mixed into his old food. That's when my poor fella suffered from diarrhea to the point that I had to give him medication to get over it. But he also had the same reaction to 2 other highly rated nutritional kibble. So, i guess some dogs just can't take the better quality foods. We just need to stick to Purina.
