Sta Tru Rear Wheel 650B/584x21mm Quick Release Axle with 36 Spokes 5-8

I don't typically write reviews, but I felt compelled to in this case. I was attracted to this wheel by the price, and the fact that I've been wanting to try 650b for some time now. When the wheelset arrived, I immediately noticed the "crunchy" feel of bearings set too tight.When I took it apart to investigate, I found very little grease inside the rubber seals. So I repacked both wheels (I bought the front too, obviously) with Phil Wood waterproof grease, and set the preload properly so they spin freely with no play, and now I am very happy with the result. Those who received their wheels with properly packed and set bearings were lucky, I think.So if you are a novice and don't have the necessary skills or tools to do this procedure, this may not be the wheel for you.

Straight, true, and the hubs was lubricated with proper preload. With Most cheap wheels, the hubs lack grease and the bearing preload is way to tight. While I will repack the bearings with Park grease, I was pleasantly surprised that the wheel spun freely out the box. Excellent buy for the money. The only drawback is that they take a threaded freewheel instead of a cassette, like most bikes today, severely limiting the possible ratios with the freewheels manufactured today.The wheel was assembled in the US, not the far east like most inexpensive wheels.

This wheel is what I needed. The freewheel is without any noticeable 'wobble' as does the stock wheel on my7-speed Huffy Parkside bike does. No more knocking sound from gears 4 and 5! The only thing is that I'm replacing the QR axle to a solid axle I purchased recently from Niagara Cycling with new stainless steel wheel nuts. Thanks again...now, for the front wheel from the same manufacturer on my next order. 😀 UPDATE: I did replace the QR axle to the solid axle from Wheel Masters 10x1x187mm and a pair of stainless steel wheel nuts from another vender. Looks great too! Also ordered the same size (650B/27.5") wheel to replace the front to match the back wheel for a nice set. (I'll keep the old wheels for winter weather with knobby tires mounted when the season comes.)

Very, very disappointed. This item is advertised CLEARLY in the title as 36 spokes; the picture is of a 36 spoke wheel; heck, even the tag I *cut off the rim when I unpacked it* says "650b ST275 sil 36h"- broke the wheel down to put a 3 speed hub in, only to find it's actually ONLY A 32 SPOKE WHEEL. This is useless for my project, and frankly, false advertising on multiple levels. Am currently lodging a complaint as such with Amazon.

Nice wheels for a good price. They were straight out of the box, An excellent way to try out 650b.

Great just what I needed, Light weight

Strong True wheel.

I needed a replacement hub for one that had a defect that appeared after using. Chose this over rebuilding and the quality was much better than the OEM wheel. It was packaged well and included the skewer. The wheel was true and the pre-load on the bearings was perfect.Only thing I had to do was add rim tape. Transferred the freehub and tube/tire over and was ready to go.
