I rigged an under sink filter housing to remove green algae from my fish tank. You couldn't even see the fish it got so bad. I used this 1 micron filter, the housing, a small pump and some tubing. In about 12 hours the water was crystal clear. I know this isn't the cure for the tank but it was the easiest method to get it clear. The pic is of the filter after it cleaned the tank

Unfortunately the filter is a bit too long, and when it inevitably gets wrenched down by rotating the outside canister to seal it in, the pleats get torqued. I don't know if this affects filtration, but the stress can't be good on the filter.

Installed this and it lasted over 6months. The pressure drop is very low. Good for catching large sand and rust particles. As there is no depth filtration, smaller particles were not captured and passed through. Overall excellent as the primary stage of a multistage filtration system.

Good price for a filter whose main job is catching sand or small particles which it does. A line broke near us but we didn't realize how much dirt that filter stopped until we checked it a few days later.
