We love Tinyville Town!
Our almost three-year-old son loves all of the Tinyville Town books, but this may be his favorite. We originally checked it out from the library but had to buy a copy because it was on constant rotation in our house. It is a good way for kids to learn about the various jobs that people may have to help a city run smoothly and fun to see some of the characters they recognize from other books (Veterinarian, Firefighter, etc.) throughout.

Very simply put
I wasn't a fan of the tinyville town books when I first bought them (I thought some were a little strangely worded). My 3 year old loves them and they grew on me. Definitely buy all of them though. It's neat when your child connects all the people together. Tinyville town in particular ties them all together.

A tiny review of the Tinyville Town series thus far
There is a new series of books out for younger children from Abrams Books. The series takes places in Tinyville Town and currently there are three books out with a fourth one due out in March 2017. Today, I am going to tell you about these books.Tinyville Town Gets to Work! is an illustrated hardcover book, measuring approximately 9.5" x 10.5". The book begins with a letter from the author/illustrator, Brian Biggs. In this letter, he talks about all the places he has lived and how they are each a bit different. He did notice that the one thing they had in common was the people. Wherever you go, you will find different people performing different jobs and all working together to make the community thrive. These different communities were the inspiration for Tinyville Town. The book explains that everyone in Tinyville Town has a job and that for the most part everyone has a daily routine. One day that routine is backed up, which causes trash to not be picked up, the donut shop to not be open, and the bus to be behind schedule. It is decided that a wider bridge must be built to accommodate the growing town. The different professions involved and actual construction of the bridge is the main focus of this book.Following this hardcover book, two board books were released. They are called Tinyville Town: I'm a Firefighter and Tinyville Town: I'm a Veterinarian. Each book is 22 pages in length and focuses on that specific profession. In the firefighter book, we learn that firefighters sleep at the station when they are on duty. That night there is a fire at the bakery. At the fire, each fireman has a job, which include functions like hoses, ladder, hydrant, etc. Back at the fire station, each fireman has a job there too, including cooking and cleaning. In the veterinarian book, we learn that the town vet has a lot of animals, so she spends her whole day with animals. The firefighter we met in the other book brings his dalmatian to the vet, because the dog isn't feeling well. It turns out the dog ate a sock, something my son finds hilarious. I really like these books, because they not only teach your children what different people do, but they show that everyone has a purpose. They also give realistic career ideas, not just astronauts or professional athletes. I can't wait to see how many of these books come out, and I look forward to the release of Tinyville Town: I'm a Librarian next March.

I was surprised to see that it was a picture book instead of board book and better suited for children ages three to six
I first stumbled upon this book after reading the Tinyville Town board books to my two-year-old. When I put this one on hold at my library, I was surprised to see that it was a picture book instead of board book and better suited for children ages three to six. On the first page, the author, Brian Biggs, addresses a letter to the reader explaining that he was inspired by his local community and wanted to create a series of books that highlight different occupations and how people can work together to make a change. Using cartoonish illustrations, Biggs has created an adorable and diverse community of people who are kind and helpful to each other. In this installment, the mayor discovers a problem with the bridge and meets with many people to build a new one. This book introduces children to a variety of occupations some of which may be new to them such as a city planner and an engineer. The book is a terrific example of collaboration and culminates with a town-wide parade celebrating the new bridge. This new series of board books and picture books are accessible, enjoyable, and provide a shining example of teamwork and what a positive community can look like.My two-year-old daughter loves the board books:I'm a Veterinarian (A Tinyville Town Book)I'm a Firefighter (A Tinyville Town Book)I'm a Librarian (A Tinyville Town Book)

Tinyville Town Gets to Work!
Tinyville Town Gets to Work is a lively story that introduces readers to the people of Tinyville Town and the different jobs they perform in order to keep the town running smoothly. Things are perfect in Tinyville Town until the day no one can get to work because of a traffic jam on the bridge. The people looked to the Mayor for a solution. Can the he find a way to restore order to Tinyville Town?I found this to be an entertaining story that teaches children that every person in Tinyville Town, and their town too, is important and when they all work together they can accomplish great things. The artwork is brilliantly detailed and children will enjoy taking everything in as they explore Tinyville Town.I highly recommend picking up a copy as well as checking out the rest of the books in the series.
