Fantastic
“Seven heroes gather to save the world – but the legends spoke of only six.”This first book in the Rokka series is a compelling mystery in a fantasy setting which I found captivating to a “can’t put it down” extent. Adlet is a great point of view character, and his companions are a nicely diverse bunch with backgrounds and agendas that conflict in ways to keep the reader guessing. One character in particular (who I’ll avoid naming or discussing in detail due to spoilers) had an unexpected and layered backstory that added significant depth and tension to the unfolding story.Adlet and the other potential heroes are confined in a dangerous situation with reason to distrust each other, and that simple core concept is built upon beautifully to sustain the story right until the end. There are numerous surprising yet well developed twists intermixed with legitimate hints, and the inability of the reader to tell which was which created a wonderful level of suspense throughout. It was hard to guess exactly where things would go because several potential resolutions made sense, which is a wonderful thing for a mystery to achieve. While certain things could have used more explanation, the way the story played out was excellent overall. I’m not sure how I feel about the developments in the epilogue and what it means for the next book, but there is potential there so we’ll see how it goes.Unlike other recent light novels published over here by Yen On that have frustrated me with the style and translation (I’m looking at you, Re: Zero), the writing in this one was fantastic. It flowed extremely well and enhanced the increasing sense of danger and suspense as events escalated.I came into this intrigued by the premise and found something even better than I expected that’s easily among my favorites of all the light novels I’ve read. I hope the series can maintain the momentum built from this strong start.

Brave of the Six Flowers does a nice take on this plot
Six Heroes who travel to save the world from evil monster lord. You think you get a simple fantasy story but instead turns into a mystery drama instead. The Author of Rokka: Brave of the Six Flowers does a nice take on this plot. It starts simple with our main lead Adlet, who has been chosen to be one of the Six who will defeat the Evil God, goes to met up with the other fix...only for him and the others to realize that Seven have joined up instead. Worst of all, they are trapped and must find out who of the seven is the fake, but it isn't an easy task...The first volume does a good job giving us a bit on the main characters and the dire situation they are in for in the later volumes. If you want a good Fantasy Mystery, then give this a read

Fun mystery/thriller.
Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers is an incredibly fun mystery story with solid world building and tight action. There's also a colorful cast of characters brought to life by some beautiful art (although there's not many drawings in this if that's what you're looking for). Great fun with some solid foreshadowing to mysteries revealed in both this and later volumes I highly recommend. If you've seen the anime this volume will mostly be recap for you (with some mild alterations) you can skip to the second volume if you don't want a refresher.

Arrived in Poor Condition
I'm not sure if this is the sender's fault or the post office's fault, but my copy of the book showed up with a bend in the spine. I can still open and read the book just fine, but it does make a noticeable mark on the book. Seeing as the copy is new, I do feel just a bit upset. Nothing too problematic, though.Nevertheless, the story is still incredibly solid. I can't wait for the second one to come out later this year.

Good fantasy read
A good read that combines fantasy with whodunit elements. As is the case with this kind of book, you learn more about the background of the characters as you go along.
