Excellent stapler
Superior product. Staples effortlessly through as many as 27 pages. I have lost a couple--and replaced them, so I can also tell you that this product is consistent in its performance. The only downside is that you MUST have the heavy duty staples that fit--and they aren't available everywhere. But the box of staples holds 5,000, so unless you are like me and need to do a lot of stapling (I take it to class and let my students staple homework, etc., too)--you're good to go with this stapler. Not only do I recommend this stapler, which is also compact, but unreservedly call it the very best for what it is and what it does.

This is a good stapler with good customer service too.
I used this stapler for several months with no problems. It's easy to use one handed. It's a little heavy, but that kept it from getting knocked off my desk like others I've tried.Recently, it started jamming. I contacted the manufacturer. They are great and sent me a replacement. I had been hoping for advice on how to fix the jamming, but I'm getting a replacement instead. It's nice to see good customer support for a good product.

Love Swingline, just not this model.
I don't think I will ever buy this model again. Twice it has stopped working since buying it in May2024. Now it is just a glorified paper weight. (because I missed the window to return it)....

Seemingly Top Quality Stapler at a Good Price
I work in accounts payable and was just about fed up with the cheap plastic staplers that our company buys in bulk. I purchased the compact version of this model at the local office supply store and loved it, except for one thing: it only held half a refill of staples, so it felt like I was constantly reloading it.I was absolutely thrilled to find this full sized version of the same stapler on Amazon! It holds a whole staple refill and then some. Except for the rubber grips it is all metal, including the hinge and rivets. It is ergonomically designed to squeeze and will stand on end or sit flat and can be used like a traditional stapler. It advertises a "Jam Free Guarantee" but note that the guarantee requires that you use official "Swingline Optima Staples". I've been using "Swingline Premium S.F. 4 Staples" and have had no jams at all stapling up to 20-25 sheets at a time.I have since purchased these for everyone in my department (and became the new office supply hero).***UPDATE***This stapler worked GREAT for about 4 months. Now it crushes staples and binds up almost every time I use it. It still works okay for 2 or 3 sheets of paper but any more than that, I'm screwed. Quote of the Day: "My new awesome stapler isn't so awesome anymore."***2nd UPDATE***Barely 7 months and the metal tab inside that serves as a spring to reset the stapling mechanism broke and fell out. This thing is worthless now and is going right in the trash. My parents still have a working stapler from 1970. They just don't make things like they used to.

So worth it
I recently started a new job. there's plenty of stapling to be done, even in a supposedly "electronic" office people still prefer to review hard copies. Problem is, either the swingline staplers in my new office have either served far past their expected lives, the staples in stock are wimpy, or some combination of both. The stapler I was given only worked about 20% of the time, even on what I consider relatively small amounts of paper - 15-20 sheets - and sometimes only after two or three failed attempts. It was driving me nuts. It sounds like a small problem, but when a stapler fails you multiple times a day, every single work day, it becomes a nails-on-chalkboard level irritant. I made it about 5 months with that s***ty stapler, then I finally couldn't take it any more. Like is too short and work is challenging enough without wasting time struggling with a stapler. I decided to just buy my own stapler.I had one of these Optima staplers at my last job and it worked almost flawlessly. I did manage to jam it several times trying to force it to staple larger amounts of paper than it was meant to, but it worked so well I couldn't believe how terrible this new stapler was in comparison. So I figured out which model I'd had and got some s.f. 4 staples, too. I was counting the days till this showed up. I stopped trying to use the old stapler at all. Sweet, sweet satisfaction as soon as I got this and brought it to work. No more stapler fights. Just a nice, satisfying "punch" every time. This models can stand on end, which I like because it's easy to grab no matter where it is on my desk (it does sit flat on the desk top, too). For roughly $20 (including staples) this stapler has saved me a lot of aggravation at work.

BEST Stapler I've Ever Had
I've used a lot of different staplers in my 46-years. This one. . is by far. . . the best I've ever had. It says that it will staple 25-pages. . and guess what. . . IT DOES! I frequently have to staple 10 - 25 pages, and I've yet to have a problem. I think the key is that you must purchase the correct staples! This stapler uses the S.F. 4 Premium Staples from Swingline Professional Plus Series #35450. These staples have a chisel point, which means they are sharper than "regular" staples. Yes, they are a little more expensive than the "generic" brands, but you can't expect the stapler to work properly without the proper staples. This stapler is also great because you can place it flat on a desk, or you can stand it upright. The top part is rubber, so it fits comfortably in your hand. The bottom is curved so that it fits comfortably in your hand no matter if your holding it from the top, or the bottom (depending upon which way you're stapling something).I will say that when I purchased this item I didn't know (or perhaps it wasn't offered) that there was a smaller version of this. If I had it to do over, perhaps I would have selected it, simply because it's smaller, but as it is, I'm quite happy with the larger one I have now, and doubt that I will ever have to purchase another stapler again.
