Could you use this gate at the top of a stairway? Would it stop a child if they tripped and fell against it?

On the box it says "13. If the gate is used at the top of stairs to prevent the child from falling down stairs, it MUST be placed 20cm behind the top step." For some reason the 20cm setback limitation is not disclosed on the product page and I got no clarification as to why that limitation is there. I'm guessing it's to compensate for any slack in the mesh material. Most retractable gates have the 20cm setback limitation for top of stair mounting, some like BabyDan are more uprfront about disclosing it.

Love the gate but one of my latches broke. How can I order a couple of replacement latches?

The lock is stuck in the lock position before installation, is there another way to release it?
