These seemed to work quite effectively over a short (10 day) holiday, measured by the fact that the containers they were plunged in didn't dry out and the plants survived my absence. Soaked them for about 12 hours first, then pushed into the soil almost to level with the soil surface. A wine bottle full seemed to work effectively.

Cant believe how good these are! They kept my tomatoes going for three weeks! So so hapoy with them.

These are well made, and do work, but you need to set them up correctly. I found that a 2L pop bottle tied to a wooden stake works really well. The bottle will not balance on top of the spike without some help. Pour a bit of water into the spike when it is in place, then with your thumb over the bottle top up end it into place and secure to a stake. In usual English weather they last 8-14 days, depending on how thirsty the plant is.

These work so well. No more guessing if the pots have enough water. I made sure the compost was damp throughout when planting up, inserted the spikes and check on them daily, topping up when necessary. As the plants grow, I insert a water-filled wine bottle (once foliage covers them, looks a bit silly otherwise with young plants and a wine bottle upended in the pot!) Now only have to refill once every 10 days. Having lots of pots on the patio is no longer a major daily task. I buy the 8 pack and have now bought 4 packs as using them in the hanging baskets. Long term, these are going to be great value for money, they seem strong and fairly hardy, so expect them to last. Extremely easy to use and a good size for the spike to reach down to the roots, where the plants actually need the water. Highly recommend. NB: Remember to take them out before the frosts, they will not withstand freezing temperatures due to necessity to be highly porous

Love these terracotta spikes. Good for larger plants but too big for small Plants.

Would probably suggest having 3 of these in your bigger pots. They definately helped keeping my plants alive during some hot weeks when I was away and potted plants need water every day.... buys you around 10 days. Hope that helps!

Ok, not sure my plants would stay alive with this alone but for sure my large shrubs doing better than normal with the consistent moisture. Very handy to use. Best on bushy plants as wine bottles sticking up doesn’t look great
