... that this shampoo plus prescribed finasteride 1mg worked amazingly good for my hair loss issue (seemingly male pattern baldn
The short version of this review is that this shampoo plus prescribed finasteride 1mg worked amazingly good for my hair loss issue (seemingly male pattern baldness) just after 3 months of consistent use. Read on for details. ** -- How It All Started -- I am a male in my 30s. I started noticing my hair thinning and falling off while combing and washing my hair about 3 months ago. It was probably a gradual process that started earlier than that though. I started taking pictures from above and saw significant thinning in the crown area. I was feeling quite miserable as no one would feel very good about losing hair. I immediately went online and researched on the best remedy. I found that the combination of finasteride 1mg (a prescribed medication) and some kind of shampoo that blocks DHT is the best solution. DHT is an enzyme converted from testosterone which will block and close off hair follicles leading to male pattern baldness. Taking finasteride 1mg also has an effect of stopping or slowing the generation of DHT in the body. The combination of the two have shown positive results for many. So I contacted my physician for the prescription and started my search for my hair loss shampoo. -- Choosing My Shampoo -- I debated between the Pura d'or and a few other brands of hair loss shampoo. Reviewers said Nioxin has changed its formula and it no longer works as before. DS Laboratories is too expensive. And a few others didn't give me a feeling that they are as natural as Pura d'or and some didn't even mention that they are free of sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) which is the another substance that leads to hair loss. I checked the Pura d'or website and read the description of this shampoo. I like the fact that it is using 100% natural and organic substance in the shampoo so I decided to go with it. -- Results Will Take Some Time -- I washed my hair carefully everyday and I tried not to scrub my scalp too hard. For about two and a half months, I didn't see any positive results. I would still see about 15 to 20 strands of hair as I was washing my hair. I see hair falling off while combing my hair and I see strands of hair on my desk from time to time. About a month in, I almost wanted to give up and switch to Ultrax Labs Hair Surge since it contains caffeine to, supposedly, stimulate hair growth. I was desperate but Ultrax Labs is simply too expensive since I know that I will in this for the long haul. So I stuck with it and diligently took my medication daily. Afterall, the Pura d'or website did say it will take a few months to see results. Before and after pictures shown on the website were between three to six months. -- Conclusion After 3 and a Half Months -- About the time when I have used Pura d'or and have taken finasteride 1mg for close to three months, I started to notice my hair was not falling off as much as before. While washing my hair, I was seeing no more than 5 strands of hair. I was so happy to see this consistently and I was glad that I stayed with the Pura d'or and finasteride combo. I notice that my hair is more dense and I can feel it while combing my hair even at the area where it used to be thin. My wife actually saw significant improvement even AFTER a recent haircut. I am pretty satisfied with that just after 3 and a half months of treatment! And Pura Dor is not expensive at all. A 16 oz bottle costing $22 would last me half a year. I have gone through half a bottle in three months washing once a day, sometimes twice a day. And a side note on the cost of finasteride 1mg, it's about $27 for 100 pills from Costco. So this came out to about $150 per year for this treatment. Not too bad given how much hair transplant may cost or how bad I may feel if I go bald. One caveat, I was using Pura Dor and taking finasteride 1mg at the same time. So I can't say Pura d'or was fully responsible for my positive results. But give that my physician told me it may take nine to 12 months for me to see results from the drug, I have high confidence that my shampoo had something to do with it. I also take Biotin 5000mg on most days in a given week but it only makes hair healthier, it doesn't have any effect on preventing follicles to close up. But I assume it gives my hair a healthier look. If you feel that you may have or you are already suffering from male pattern baldness and hair loss is not a result of some other illness, give this a try. It's definitely worth a try!
I was sceptical about this product, but I had to try something to stop the mass migration of hair from my head to the shower drain. About 11 months ago I noticed that whenever I took a shower my hair was stopping the water from drain yen I was losing so much. After a few months of this I noticed that I was really noticing thinner hair in the front. I was starting to get really worried because my mother has a big spot in the front of her head that is almost bald and I did not want to end up that way. I chose this product for three reasons. 1) The price was reasonable compared to other alternatives therefore if it didn't work I wasn't out that much money. 2) I wanted a shampoo vs an oral option with tons of possibly scary side effects and 3). I like the that this was an organic product that is safe for color treated hair. I have been using this product now for five months. I put it on and lather it up. I usually take about 20 minutes in the showing washing, shaving my legs, etc. I leave the product lathered up on my hair the whole time and rinse it out last. After the first couple of washes I noticed that when I rinsed out my hair, there was no hair in the drain. This has held true for the last 5 months, if I do notice any hair it's only 1 or 2 strands not the fist full I was losing prior each wash. My beautician has stated to me on a couple of occasions as well that I have a lot of new growth. I color my hair once a morn and this shampoo does not leach the color out. In fact I feel that my color stays longer with this shampoo that with a very expensive color safe Lanza shampoo I was previously using. I do agree with other reviews that the smell is a very medicine like smell, but this can be easily remedied with a styling product or leave in conditioner. I personally have not noticed that this causes dandruff, in fact my scalp tends to be dry due to frequent color on my hair and since using this product, I feel that my scalp is actually less dry. Overall I like this product. I have long hair and my first bottle has lasted several months. I have decided to reorder. The only reason I am giving this 4 instead of five stars is 1) the smell of the shampoo and 2) I feel as though I need to use this longer to make sure that it does not lose its effectiveness after long term. If I am still getting the same results a year from now, then I will change my rating to a five star.

WOW, It ACTUALLY WORKS! :-O
YES, IT WORKS!!! I buy TONS from Amazon and this will actually be my first review, I know, I know, it's terrible, especially since we gain so much from customer experience, will definitely try to change that! But back to the matter at hand, this shampoo is really heaven sent. I started noticing some thinning, which to this day I can't tell you where my hair went since I never experienced any shedding, due to a beta blocker temporary medication I was taking for my anemia. But since my, down to my waist, hair was so incredibly thick, it took me almost a year to realize what was happening. (So thick I had to shave the back of my head, as if I had a bob haircut, in order to wear it down and my fam always said I couldn't possibly get lice because they wouldn't find a way to my scalp, lmao!). Like many of you I FREAKED and started the research, smoothies and vitamins route. I also got the many you're crazy I don't see it comments, but even though nobody could see it YET, I refused to wait until they could! Unfortunately, nothing gave me noticeable results. Then, one night, while searching for the 1000000000 time on Amazon, I came across this GEM, and due to the wonderful reviews, I decided to give it a shot...SO GLAD I did! I've used it ONLY 3 times and already see results! After the first use, the fullness was visible, my scalp felt so much better and refreshed and 2 days later the hair sprout began! After the second use my crown was no longer visible! It leaves your hair fuller, healthier, shinier and SUPER soft! (FYI: Results will vary since my hair grows super quick and the thinning never affected the growth, just the volume. Also note that it may be a combination of things I'm doing, of which I'll discuss below. That said, no other products I've tried gave me these results!) A Few TIPS: Since I usually wash my hair 2 times a week, in between those days I applied the shampoo directly on my problem areas daily and even used it as hair gel when slicking hair back for a ponytail. This way I could get as much of the exposure as possible without stripping my hair oils with excessive washing. (FYI: If you have issues with sebum accumulation, you're better off avoiding this TIP!). In ADDITION To The Shampoo I Have Also Recently Added: Biotin (10k for the last 3 months), Prenatal Gummy Vitamins (Started 3 days ago), Viviscal Professional Strength (Started 1 week ago, 2 capsules per day), Vitamin D (My level was at 9, :-O YIKES!!, when it should be around 100 to be optimal for hair growth. Taking 10k D3 a day for the last month), Fish Oil & Omega 3's (1 capsule daily), B-Complex & B12 (1 capsule daily), Calcium (1 capsule daily), Warm or Cold Lemon Water Cup Daily, Coconut Oil Hair Mask (Have done only 1, so far), My YUMMY Daily Ice Cream Tasting Smoothie (Wheat Germ, honey, almond milk vanilla, cinnamon, vanilla extract, olive oil & raw egg yolk), 3 Minute Daily Scalp Massages (With Wahl massager), Derma Roller (Done it twice so far, will continue to do once a week) & Castor Oil (I add it after the Derma Roller treatment, only twice so far. Go easy on the oil, dilute it if possible, it can get really greasy if too much is added). And last but certainly not least, patience...be patient! I know how extremely difficult it can be, but remember that your hair didn't get this way overnight, and therefore will need the same amount of time and hair cycles to fully recover! Don't focus on the loses, since that loss is most likely due to the hair cycle that has already been damaged, always try to focus on the gains, and slowly but surely your hair will recover!!! :-D Ley

Good Shampoo, Not Much Thickening
I do like this in general for a shampoo, it is a very pure and clean product. Like most sulfate free shampoos you have to wash a second time before you get any sort of real lather with the product. As far as the claims that it thickens hair, I haven't really noticed any big difference between this and the last product I was using. I do think this is a great shampoo, and I love the conditioner as well. There is only a faint scent to the product, but it is a pleasant scent. For just a shampoo it is a bit overpriced, but it's worth it for the purity of the produce and it's really on par with other organic shampoos I've looked at. The biggest thing for me here is the pump, which I love! It really helps cut down on using too much product, plus it twists back in which makes it great for travel. A little bit definitely goes a long way, and I have medium/long length hair. One bottle of the shampoo lasts me a couple months or more. Honestly it's been awhile since I purchased my last bottle so I'm not really sure, lol. I would definitely recommend this product as a general shampoo, but not for any additional thickening the product promises.

BEST SHAMPOO and CONDITIONER I'VE EVER USED...AND THEY WORK VERY WELL!
This is my on-going review (3/9 - 3/16 and 4/14/2015) for Pura d'or Hair Loss Prevention Premium Organic Shampoo and Pura d'or Premium Organic Argan oil Conditioner: March 9, 2015 - I received these products (shampoo & conditioner) on 3/6/15. Because of stress and not sleeping for almost 2 weeks when there was a death in my family, my hair started falling out, and over 2-3 weeks I developed 5-6 bald spots. I had been taking Biotin (5000mg per day), but thought there must be some kind of shampoo that would help my condition. I found it on Amazon. The first time I used the shampoo, I followed the instructions and massaged my scalp and got a nice lather. It rinsed out well and I didn't need a 2nd shampoo. Next I used the conditioner. It felt good and after a few minutes I rinsed it out and gently comb through my hair. To my surprise there was very little tangle and NO breakage! After I blow-dried my hair, it felt soft. March 16, 2015 - I've used both the shampoo and conditioner twice since 3/9. My hair is growing and is healthy, shiny and feels strong. I've got about 1/4" of new growth where the bald spots were. Normally my hair is fine but it didn't have a natural 'sheen' like it has now. And where I didn't have bald spots, my hair is much stronger. It is fine textured, but now it doesn't feel limp and it doesn't look dull. April 14, 2015 - I've been using both products twice a week. My hair is growing - almost a full inch since I started using these products a month and a half ago. It's healthy, not thin or limp; it's soft-to-the-touch and has a nice sheen. I'm a 69 year old, African-American woman. Two weeks ago I was feeling so good about these products, I got up enough nerve to do some things to my hair that I wasn't sure would work out: I used a relaxer and I added a color rinse to cover the grey. My hair looks and feels great! And it keeps on growing. Don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found these products, which I will continue to use. I also told my hair dresser and a few friends who knew what had happened to me, about these products.. Pura d'or Shampoo and the Organic Conditioner are the best and I highly recommend them to anyone with hair damage or loss.

Extremely Drying & Damaging
I'm baffled by so many positive reviews as I find it difficult to believe this shampoo helps with thinning hair. I have blonde hair approx. 4in past my shoulders long. When I was younger, my hair was very thick, couldn't wrap a scrunchie around it 2 times and 1 was extremely tight. As time as passed and age takes it's toll, my hair has become much thinner, particularly around the temple area and can get a scrunchie around it 3 times to describe the difference. My hair is dry and damaged from coloring for gray, blow drying, flat iron, and curling irons. I was it 2-3 times a week due to dryness and typically use moisturizing shampoos to combat the dryness. This shampoo dried out my hair beyond what I thought could be possible. I developed dry, itchy, flaking patches on my scalp as well. It doesn't lather as most shampoos, only has a light lather but it would tangle my wet hair to no end trying to scrub and very difficult to was the soap out of what felt like rats nested in my hair. Due to the tangled mess, I had to use a deep conditioner and so much hair would come out between my fingers trying to untangle it. After blow drying and styling, my hair felt like straw, was difficult to get to curl, and was stripping the color out of my hair, which is only 1 shade lighter than my natural color, and my hair become extremely frizzy with excessive breakage. After 3 weeks of use, I had to stop. Couldn't take it any longer. The conditioner that goes with this is pretty good but no where near moisturizing as my usual conditioner. The smell is ok. Not over powering and a bit herbal/medicine scented. This was a huge waste of money for me. Both products got tossed in the trash.

Great shampoo! After 12 months, stopped my hair loss and stimulated some regrowth in a few areas along my hairline!
I have used this shampoo on a daily basis for the past year and I am extremely happy with the results!!My goal was to slow down the steady hair loss process that started a couple of years ago during my late 20s. I started using the shampoo on a daily basis, paying attention to let it sink in for at least 5 min after shampooing and rubbing my hair for 2 to 3 minutes. Nothing really happens during the first 3 to 4 months, but I kept using it, aware that these things take time to bring visible results. Moreover, the shampoo was much better that all shampoos I used until then, my hair was looking healthier and my scalp was not itching even during the dry winter months we have here in the Bay area. Over the next 4 months, I noticed that my hair was getting thicker. Additionally, a lot of new small thin hair were starting to grow along my hairline, in areas were they had stop growing over the past years. 4 months forward, after a few natural cycles of loss and growth, these small thin hair have grown into fully thick hair. And new small thin ones, expending my hairline on my upper forehead in incremental waves. Same phenomena happened on the top of my head. On the other hand, I didn't observe the same regrowth on the temple forehead areas. I guess these hairs were gone for too long to hope dormant hair bulbs to be reactivated by Pura Hair Loss active ingredients. I never expected this shampoo to help regrow my hair, I just hopped it will slow down or stop the current loss trend. This was really an amazing outcome!! Additionally, some people have started to ask me if I had changed something in my hair or my haircut, telling me that I seem to have more hair than before. The other day, I looked back at some old pictures with my wife and we were amazed to see the difference between now and then. Considering that I haven't changed much when it comes to the quality of nutrition or the stress level I am exposed too, so I am pretty confident to say that Pura D'Or shampoo played a key role in this visible improvement. Considering the price compared with a traditional hair loss treatment, I would highly recommend anyone observing a slow steady hair loss to give it a try for a long-enough period of time. One slight caveat: it seems that one aspect of the formula has changed: the foam produced when shampooing is not a dense and full as it used to be, which requires using slightly more shampoo than before.

Updated Review - Tried for Hypothyroidism
Sorry for the long review, but I'm hoping it is helpful: I have Hypothyroidism. Due to this, I have been working to balance out my body (naturally) in order to avoid losing hair and some of the other symptoms. Unfortunately until I was diagnosed my already fine hair was starting to thin, and more hair was falling out per day than normal. My goal in this purchase was to halt hair thinning and hopefully grow back out my missing hair. At first I thought it was helping slow down the hair falling out, which had me really excited (FIRST TWO MONTHS). Over time, the tangles from after my showers, and dryness that the shampoo caused my hair actually made it harder to brush out (I even wait until my hair is dry before brushing, as brushing wet risks further damage).... While it seemed like I lost less hair during a full shower, I felt like I lost more afterwards (FROM THREE TO FIVE MONTHS OF USE). So, if you are having similar issues, here are some things I am trying (slowed things down, but I have not cured anything yet): 1. Get diagnosed for Hypothyroidism or Hyperthyroidism. Medication will soon follow, which should balance out your TSH levels. Doctors don't like to test for T4 and T3 levels, but if you can get that tested ahead of time, it helps. 2. Use ONLY natural hair dye, shampoo, and conditioner (I use hennacolorlab.com) instead of chemical dye (this is extremely bad for your hair, which I had been using for over 12 years). 3. Take all natural Biotin, Omega 3/6/9, Probiotics, and possibly Evening Primrose (I recommend asking your doctor first). 4. Brush your hair less, you pull more out each time you brush. This was hard for me to do as I love to brush my hair, but sacrifices must be made. I now use BASS's wooden brush and large toothed comb. 5. Don't over style hair with heat, tight ponytails, etc. Also avoid rough towel drying your hair, use a t-shirt or light towel twists instead. 6. Massage your scalp a few times a week at minimum, to encourage follicle growth. 7. Don't over wash, as drying your scalp causes more issues. Don't under wash, as grease buildup can block follicles. 8. Avoid chemical-filled products in sprays, gels, and conditioners. I deleted all my other feedback on this shampoo, since it's just not worth the cost/outcome. If you're experiencing hair loss from other issues, then this might work for you. Like I said, less fell out during the shower, which was a positive, but overall it was not delicate enough for my hair. On a positive note, my scalp was very healthy, never greasy or flaking with this shampoo, and other 100% natural products aren't always as good at that. Good luck!
