great gift for a boat owner!
Gift for son-in-law who just got his captain's license. Will be ferrying yachts to boat shows w/wife (my daughter) as first mate. A great way to communicate orders! He'll get a kick out of it. Very well made, and came 2 days early, always a plus.

Gift and curio item only
Pipe is cheap, doesn't work and flimsy (solid brass but very thin brass). Looks good sitting on the shelf with my other Navy memorabilia though. Will keep for that purpose alone.

Bought it for the wooden case
This whistle/pipe is a piece of junk. Ugly copper/brass. It doesn't play. I'm a Coast Guard vet and I know how to play one. I bought this for the wooden case which is okay. I bought a genuine nickel Acme brand whistle/pipe from Amazon along with a white hand stitched lanyard to go into the case to give as a gift. Keep the case and toss this whistle/pipe.
